lol buy the boxset, so cheap these days.
Theres due to be a new Freddy film in 2010/2011 - a remake of the original, but no Mr Englund I hate to say, and rumour has it theres CGI Freddy .... if so I won't be happy lol
As a child in the eighties (born in '78), Nightmare was one of those tapes shared around the playground - maybe they were aware of that sort of thing so targeted it? By doing so they diluted it though.
Watched it the other week.
Scared me as a youngster too,it's not good but neither is it as bad as some people say.I feel people hate it because the storyline makes little sense and completely ignores the 'rules' set by Wes Craven. It goes as far as it does on Englund's superb performance.
I think they dramatically toned it down between 1988 and 1991 to get international merchandise/marketing deals, they even had Freddy appear in a rap video!
It makes me wonder about the American motivation here,...seeing as Nightmare on Elm Street was supposed to be a film only for adults. Yet they were making dolls for children based on a child killer character from an adult film which they were legally not allowed to go to watch?
