Nightmare on Elm Street being remade

That was one of the better remakes, but still extremely poor compared to the original. However, the interest it created did allow George Romero to make Land of the Dead.

For as much as I love the NOES movies I've only ever seen the first three. The others don't have that great a reputation so I've been putting off watching the rest of the series.

Oh yeah, i forgot about that one, i did really enjoy that film, and personally i now enjoy it more than the original DotD (the original is extremely dated now, although it is still good).

'Land of the Dead' was pathetic (imo). I'd love to know what George was high on when he cooked up the plot for that movie. Let's just hope that 'Diary of the Dead' makes up for it.

Are there no new ideas in Hollywood - why are they continually remaking old films or dining out on old concepts like Transfoermers - have some originality.

NOES is a horror classic, they can only make it worse and then what's the point!?

I think this is going to be pants. The original is a classic.

Heather Langenkamp who played Nancy Thompson was amazing. The actress who plays her has a lot to live up to in my book.

It'd be great if they had Heather Langankamp make a cameo appearance, or even play Nancy's mother.

Because it's all about the money. That is all Hollywood cares about...a fast buck. Remakes and Sequels are the way to achieve this

For good horror movies you've nearly always got to look at the low budget, indie screne.

Sure Hollywood get's it right now & again (Exorcist,Omen,Shining) but the likes of Nightmare On Elm Street,Hellraiser,Evil Dead,Chainsaw Massacre,Halloween and even more recently Saw were (or near to) low budgeted independent movies.

Guess it's down to horror relying more on a creative vision then quality acting and the studios get too involved in the creative process.

I agree and if Englund is not Freddy I'll boycott paying to watch it.
Anyone can play Leatherface,Myers,Jason,Dracula,Darth Vader etc but Englund IS Freddy Krueger.
