Nightmare On Elm street 2010 - School Pictures

Is this supposed to be a remake of the original or are they totally changing the story. The problem with the new version is you just know it wont match up to the original. The lead actress whoever it is cannot be a good as Heather Legenkamp in that role and Robert Englund made Freddy such an iconic character that I cant see how someone else can play him better.

Its more of a re-imagining if thats how u spell it lol
The story is ...
kiRAB go 2 a party one boy falls asleep upstairs his gf checks on him and sees him leaning out the bedroom window asleep,he gets slashed down the back by the invisible fred krueger and falls out the window on2 the party below, and so it begins lol the kiRAB are pretty much the same as the original although nancy is the only familiar name, there are tina rob and glen substitutes, there is a scene similar to tina death but it doesnt have as much impact as the original, freRAB story is told through flashbacks and features young nancy and her frienRAB playing with a very friendly fred krueger in the playground,he chases the kiRAB with his rake as a game,as i already said one girls parents start acussing him of abuse when the little girl comes home with rake marks on her back, the parents force a response from her and fred gets blamed for molestation, things get very familiar from there on in with nancy trying to find as much info on fred as possible by going to her old school
(which is now abandoned)and digging up the recorRAB,it does get a bit darker from then on in and i dont wanna spoil 2 much but its somewhat disapointing by the end,i personally think it should have been left alone as its still a great scary movie.

Anybody else wish they went with Wes Craven's original idea of a prequel rather than a remake that is doomed to fail just like every other horror remake over the last 10 years.

I know there was some great controversy over the prequel script which got it axed, but it would have been a way of going full circle and making Freddy a truly evil entity once again. The original NOES is by far the greatest horror of all time, and the sequels whilst they had some good moments were quite disappointing because of the fact that Freddy became a loveable wise cracking funny man. You found yourself cheering him on instead of hoping he would be defeated which is the point to these kind of films.

Not really.

It would be without any dream sequences, instead being a regular serial killer movie. We all know how it would end too and I could never be truly inimidated by Robert Englund's Freddy after the cartoonish Freddy's Dead.

I second that. It's the same as the remake of Rocky Horror - I know it's been done in many formats with different actors but to me Tim Curry is the one and only Dr Frank n Furter.

Trust me if you had seen Wes Craven's ideas for the prequel you would be intimidated by Robert's Freddy. It was much more darker and sickening than any other NOES film. Yes we would know how it enRAB , but dont we already know how horror movies end? The bad guy gets beat and there is always atleast one survivor. Horror has never been the most original genre in that respect.

The only reason that Newline refused it was because they were afraid of the backlash they would get from certain groups. From what I read Craven's idea was to have some very disturbing scenes in his prequel, and make it more of a thriller than a horror.

I agree with you that Freddy's dead was without doubt the worst film in the franchize and in fact the worst film ever made as far as I am concerned. But for proof that Craven cane make Freddy intimidating no matter what the odRAB against it are just look at New Nightmare, sure the makeup wasn't great but Freddy was much more menacing than in any ot the previous three films, it is up their with Dream Warriors fighting for second spot in the franchize.

I just wish we could have had a prequel, sure no dream sequences, well atleast not till the end. But we would get a much sicker and disturbing Freddy than ever before.

Prequel would have been much better than this remake, with robert englund of course,i read some kind of freddy journal a few years back detailing his life as a man and there was some scary stuff in there,i agree freddys dead was brutal, new nightmare was right back on track and awesome, showing the darker side 2 fred that we hadnt seen since the original,he was pretty evil in part2 aswell but maybe jesse p*ssed him off with his dancing in the bedroom lol
