Nightmare Fuel in Cartoons

I'm sure something similar to this has been discussed before, but, since I couldn't find anything in particular....
What cartoons freaked/creeped/terrified YOU as a kid, or even to this day?
What inspired this thread was a certain scene in the Courage the Cowardly Dog episode "Courage in the Big Stinkin' City", or something along the lines of that. Let's just say, it involves a girl playing a violin. Needless to say, I haven't seen the show (nor the episode) in nearly a decade, and I STILL remember that scene sending me screaming from the room, hiding under my bed for about an hour before deciding it was okay to come back to the living room. Unlike other cartoons that scared me as a kid, I refuse to watch that episode to this day, not even out of curiosity.
Other, LESSER scares include: The entirety of Pluto's Judgement Day (of which is now scary in a FUN way), the ending to the Tom & Jerry cartoon Two Mousketeers....And Rex from Toy Story (I was five, okay :o?).

This cartoon gave me nightmares when i saw it on TV way back in eighties, when i was a kid and soviet union was still there.

I had nightmares with this living coal blackness during all my childhood and teenage years. Not the monster thing -- actually the monster is kinda cute, but oh my this blackness...

Now re-watching it, i can appreciate just how great it is, but i still shudder.
 
I don't remember anything being so creepy I had to go hide behind the couch or anything but some things that definatly were freaky:
  • The rats learning to read in Secret of NIMH
  • The part in the Little Mermaid at the wedding where "Vanessa" (was that her name?) turns back into Ursula.
  • The sirens from the Ducktales episode "Home Sweet Homer"
  • I also remember a scene from some show (Bucky O'Hare, I think) were someone was sucked into a machine. I was kind of scared to use hand-dryers in public restrooms after that.:o
 
Definitely Courage the Cowardly Dog. Almost every episode! I still loved it, though. One image stands out in my mind, but I can't name the episode.

Veggie Tales had an episode that scared me to death when I was really little. (Seriously!) Haha.
 
The only cartoon I can remember really scaring me is Pinocchio, specifically the scene with the children after they turned into donkeys.
 
Some episodes of Courage the Cowardly Dog. Can't remember the exact title, but the episode with the barber...I watched it recently and it still is pretty freaky. And that weremole scene where the bunny is eaten; I loved the scene so much, yet at the same time I felt uneasy.

I was never one to have nightmares about movies, though, and horror is one of my favorite genres today. Back then I loved it, too, even if it scared me :D
 
Well, my earliest memory - period - is having the life scared out of me by Runaway Brain. Rewatching it now it's pretty badass but to a three year old, well... LORD. The scene where they actually switch brains is enough to scar you for life.
 
Courage certainly had some creepy moments but I loved horror movies even when I was younger and I always loved how Courage was like a horror cartoon, even though it was plenty funny too. It was almost a horror parody, but that didn't stop it from weirding me out now and then.
 
Definately Courage. It's a shame, too, because the episodes are so good in hindsight, and yet they creeped me out like nobody's buisiness. Especially the phlegm and Freaky Fred ones. *shiver*

I also was pretty creeped out by the Johnny Lovely episode of The Proud Family. (no laughing!) He was just so... minutely perfect.

Anyone else share my feelings?

Education for Death. That thing had me wide-eyed the whole time.

Anyone seen this one called Grandfather Clock from 1934? Creepy as shiz.

Anything involving Mayuri Kurostuchi. Most sadistic bastard in an anime I've seen, giving even Ichimaru a run for his money.
 
Freaky Fred from Courage the Cowardly Dog.
Candy Cosmos from Flapjack.
Some parts of Watership Down.

Just to name a few. There's a lot of good stuff out there.
 
The Movie 9. I jumped out of my seat when the Cat Creature popped his hand in to barrel that 9 was in, trying to attack and kill the stitchpunk.
 
I remember, as a kid, seeing an episode of Speed Racer where Trixie (I think that's her name) had a dream where Speed drove up in his car with his back to her. Trixie ran up and hugged her...and Speed turned out to be some blue skinned devil thing. I don't remember the details, only that it freaked me out and turned me off of the show.
 
Four words: The Brave Little Toaster. I never saw that movie in its entirety when I was a kid 'cause I kept hiding my face in the nearest blanket I could get my hands on. I had no idea there were so many horrific ways for household appliances to meet their doom.
 
That one episode of Courage with the freaky CGI Ramses just standing in the middle of the desert and chanting. Courage was full of some creepy crap, man. If I was a little kid when I had watched that, I probably would've had nightmares.

One thing that I do recall having bad dreams about was that one episode of Rugrats where Angelica dreams about having an evil baby brother. The entire scene plays out like some kind of horror movie, ending with Angelica getting eaten. Old school Rugrats had some pretty demented stuff in it sometimes.
 
The Darkwing Duck episode "Dead Duck" actually gave me nightmares when I saw it. It freaked me to the point that to this very day, I've never once watched the episode in reruns. The weird thing is that I was able to sit through the Eek! the Cat short "Eek Goes to the Hot Spot", which had a similar theme, without incident.

Now if you want disturbing images, check out the short "Let's Chop Soo-E!", a short that aired on MTV's Liquid Television during the shows' 2nd season. That short was seriously gross and unsettling.
 
Craniac and his two goons from Extreme Ghostbusters, they literally gave me nightmares. I loved the show as a kid, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't scare the crap out of me. Craniac was the chief example. The guy was a demonic butcher with a buzzsaw in his head that mutilates people. His two buddies were pretty grotesque too. Some time ago, I rewatched the episode and enjoyed it. I really need to watch the series again, the show seems to still be enjoyable to me after all these years. They definitely weren't kidding when they said Extreme though, especially considering the comedic source material.

I loved and still love Courage as well, but it never really scared as me a kid.
