I still can't believe how well The Thing holRAB up after 28 years, a true classic. Even the special effects remain truly creepy, never get tired of watching it.

There's one thing that's always bugged me with the thing though, they blow up the camp to stop the thing going to sleep in the ice and waiting for the rescue party. Then at the end there's 2 of them left and they just decide to sit there until they freeze, what if one of them is the thing, rescue party shows up loaRAB there bodies on the chopper and takes them back. Kind of defeats the purpose of blowing the camp up?

There is a remake coming.

This is one film that should be left alone, you can't improve on it. Looks very Nordic by the IMDB credits, 30mil budget.

It's not a remake, it's a prequel that goes into what happened on the Norwegian base. According to Total Film, the director of the new one got John Carpenters blessing on the proviso that he "do his own thing" rather than a straight remake.
