No, it's a matter of depth of field, bright sunshine = small aperture. There's no need for trickery, the clever bit is cutting the feet off so that you lose perspective.

Yeah, it's a combo of perspective and depth of field, that the guy is just walking around in the background.

But if you'll look closely, the optical illusion is actually on the chick's boobies.
