NHL Center Ice 2008-09 and Bell "TVonline" discussion

How's Bell's CI HD offering today?

Shaw now has 8 HD channels and they're showing one game tonight in HD.

So, so angry.

I just received my letter from Bell regarding NHL Center Ice. The price is $199 for the season and the package still only includes 4 HD channels (866-869). I would like to see more dedicated HD channels.

Anyway there is a new feature this year. Bell states the following in the letter:
"Introducing NHL Online from Bell TV. New! NHL Online is included with your NHL Centre Ice subscription and it's free. It makes your viewing experience fully portable, meaning you can watch NHL Centre Ice games on your computer anywhere in Canada and never miss seeing your favourite teams and players. Saturday night games are not included. Visit Bell.ca/TVonline for information on how to sign up for your complimentary NHL online account."

I tried the URL but it is not functioning yet. Anyways if it is free, then it sounds pretty good.

"ALL" those games are enough for me along with CBC, Sportsnet, and whatever American network carries games after Christmas. ;-)

I would get CI if I had a favorite team but I don't so it is not worth the money to me.

2 HD Games on Cogeco's Centre Ice tonight

Washington at Atlanta and Columbus at Dallas

1) Is $199 a pre-season price (as I think was mentioned in a Sports Programming thread) or will this price increase when the season starts?

2) I'm in the Gatineau, Quebec (Ottawa area) region. Does the package include every single game for every NHL team or will there be blackout restrictions due to my region? If so, what NHL Teams/games can I expect to miss? Are there any other Sports themes I should include to make sure I will get it all?

3) Are the pre-season games included in this?

"Thinking about getting NHL Centre-Ice for the first time"

I have subscribed to CI for three years now. I live in BC and the only games not included in my CI sub are Canuck PPV games...

It bugs me that there is still no detailed explanation on this Bell "TVonline" thing. The season begins in just a couple of days. Will they figure this out by Christmas? Any of you have any ideas on how this will work?

Actually Bell Centre Ice Online goes by IP address as I was able to watch the Oilers/Avs game on Sunday night in BC and my account is set up in Alberta. If for example you are in the States on business you would not be able to watch any games as they would be blacked out since Centre Ice Online does not work in the United States.

I signed up for the complimentary online service last night. Anybody watch any games yesterday? How was the quality?

By purchasing CI, you're purchasing the rights to every out-of-market game, except local PPV games. So in Gatineau, you would still have to pay for Senators PPV games. The 2008-09 Senators PPV schedule or rates have not been announced, but as of right now there are only six games all season that are not on a Saturday night and not been broadcast on CBC/TSN/Sportsnet/RDS. CBC has exclusive rights to Saturday games AFAIK.

You may still encounter games in the programming guide that are blacked out, but just press the info button and it will tell you the right channel to watch.

Channels 426-429 work fine but channels 430-435 don't work. I couldn't watch the EDM/CGY, SJ/ANA & CAR/LA games tonite. Yesterday I couldn't watch the DAL/STL game.

Why is that? D

Do I have to put in my new smartcards? That shouldn't be it cuz I get the first 4 channels.
