Supreme Court ruled today that the NFL really is 32 separate teams. They can't do some BS like pulling contracts from small companies and assigning the apparel contract for all teams to Reebok.

They are the idiots that took this to the supreme court in hopes of getting an exemption to the anti-trust laws.

I am a jerseyhead and I can tell you the NFL pulls some crazy stuff. There is a company in St. Louis that was the best place to have an NFL jersey customized. They had some of the business from NFLshop.com. People used to send them blank jerseys to get customized. They also did great work in stripping a jersey and remaking it with different name/number. NFL got wind that some people were sending in old jerseys to have them remade into a current player's jersey and they slapped the company with a cease and desist. Threatened to pull their NFLshop.com business because NFL felt they were horning in on Reebok's contract. Who cares if 20 guys send in their old Torin Dorn Rams jersey to get made into a Sam Bradford? The NFL, that's who.

Anti-Trust is such terrible legislation.

If I didn't like football so much, I'd encourage the NFL to dissolve and see how long the demand for "authentic" jerseys really goes. This crap pisses me off pretty bad.

"I INSIST THAT I HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE JERSEYS WITH YOUR TRADEMARK ON THEM!"
 
This will surely be good for the potential lock out in 2011. The players are now better positioned to renegotiate
 
The NFL won in the circuit court but they decided to tempt fate. I'm actually pleasantly surprised. The court has been very corporatist in the last 10 years.
 
Btw, I wouldn't take Bleacher Report's word for anything. Profootballtalk.com will probably have a much better analysis. The guy who runs it is a lawyer, for one.

Haven't actually paid much attention to this issue yet.
