Nexus S -> ICS 4.0 or Gingerbread 2.3?

Should I update my Nexus S to the Ice-cream Sandwich 4.0 or leave it at 2.3?

I heard there were a lot of battery problems with the 4.0 and was just wondering...
Also if yes to ICS, how can I maximize the battery life?
