Nexus one or g2

Hi All, I'm new to Android. Well, actually i havent bought anything yet. I had an iPhone, piece of Sh... broke and i don't want another one. Im now using a blackberry, god is that a lame phone.
I've been wanting to switch to Android for a while but I was just waiting for the G2 to be released, but now I'm not so sure. I like the idea of having a vanilla OS, i dont like the motoblur or htc sense.
but now i;m not so sure. Im tech savy enough to be able to root and mod the phone but i cant decide between the nexus one and the G2.
Can anyone gimme some feedback that i cant find on the sites? The main thing holding me back is that rooting thing with the G2. With the second chip that they put in, will the phone ever be able to be rooted?
I know alot of people still have the nexus one and that its a great phone but im not completely sure.
Thanks a lot.

If I could get a hold of a nexus 1 for a decent price I'd jump on it. Otherwise the G2 seems to be a great device. I'm sure there's plenty of research you could do on both phones right here on AC.

I was trying to decide between both phones as well and i got a good price on a n1 and decided to get it. I am pretty happy with my decision. The camera takes nice pictures, its fast, its a perfect size screen for my preference, and its a good looking phone.

I went to tmobile to check out the g2 and I liked it as well I just didnt like the feel of the keyboard. It didnt feel sturdy enough and i liked the feel of the n1 better. Other than that they are kind of similar.

I also checked out the samsung vibrant which u might also want to consider. I liked that it is super light but at the same time i think that also made the phone feel a bit cheaper. The screen is pretty amazing tho.

I think the main factors you should chose your phone on is whether you want a keyboard, 4g internet, optical trackpad, a faster processor, better camera, bc other than that they are pretty similar. I do have to say coming from a g1 i miss the physical keyboard a lot! But you said you had an iphone so maybe you are used to it already.

In regards to the root issue, yea i would definitely wait and see if they find a way to root the g2 before going out to buy one if you decide to get the g2. The ability to root an android is pretty much the reason I am still using one.

Here are several links on the G2 and root.

if you decide on the g2 here's the best deal so far

i got a n1 currently and i love it, but im sure if i didnt have the n1 i'd get the g2 or the new mytouch4g, reason im not upgrading is because im waiting for something better

g2/mytouch 4g
advantages: hspa speeds, swype keyboard, more internal memory, faster processor, hd recording (mytouch4g has 2 cameras), wifi calling & tmobile tv

n1
advantages: new updates/otas are sent faster, easy to root, 100% stock android meaning wireless tethering included, car & home docks, and cause its an developers phone

My wife's G2 seems to be a bit faster than my N1. She was pro-keyboard, and now since she's been using Swype she rarely slides it open to use the keyboard.

Anyway, I'd go with whichever is cheaper
