Nextel / Sprint

Motorola just got a 3 year extension to make phones for Nextel, but all the newer ones will have dual network technology so they say. working on the iden and cdma networks that sprint uses. Either way I just hope nextel doesnt lose their moto phones. I dont want any of those piece of **** samsung/sanyo phones
 
Moto is the best and I'm glad to hear they are sticking with them.

My wife has an AT&T phone made by Panasonic, which makes a pretty cool phone with an awesome battery life!

But, as to the Sanyo, Nokia and others - they are over-rated crap!

I haven't heard about that one... But, Nextel has had the 2-way technology for a really long time, but now since they are merging it doesn't really matter..... does it? :cool:

By-the-way I did a search for the i930 on Nextel's website - it does have some .pdf training materials for the sales reps that contains info on the i930 (although not very interesting for you and me) - but, the training manual also listed a i890.... Too bad, it would really seem that we will have to wait several months or more since logic would indicate that they would release the i890 before the i930. Such a shame.

Nah it doesnt really matter I really like the deal from nextel
thats the only reason I went to nextel is for the walkie talkie

You were thinking of the whole Verizon vs. NEXTEL battle over the term "Push-to-Talk" which has since been settled. NEXTEL can still continue to use it as a service mark, however they cannot trademark it. There was also a fight (connected to the same lawsuit) over NEXTEL beating Verizon to the punch with Nationwide Direct Connect whereby Verizon alleged that NEXTEL used unfair trade tactics in stealing the ideas for NDC from Verizon via NEXTEL's dealings with Motorola who developed the technology. This also drug the 2 companies into a fight over the spectrum in 1.9GHz and/or 2.1GHz NEXTEL was going to move to for eliminating interference with public safety radios in the 800MHz spectrum that NEXTEL shares.
