Nextel Poor Reception...switched To Verizon

enough is enough.... too many poor reception areas with nextel... drop calls... seems nextel connections have gotten worse in the pass 2 years. nextel causes to much frustration, i had to switch.

I get a lot of Nextel customers come in to my store and say that ever since the Sprint Nextel merge took place, their service just started going downhill(dropped calls, DC acting up, etc).

Don't take that to mean they are letting the network go downhill, that's far from true. Sprint is maintaining and improving the Nextel network, but my opinion is they've over-promoted the merger and the promise of superior service, causing the network to grow faster than they can keep up with. Each tower can only handle a given number of transmissions at any time, and they are signing up new customers faster than they can put up new towers. :o

I was just explaining that I have had customers with similar problems as well, and stating that they said it started to occur after they merged. Samething happened with some of my AT&T customers when Cingular purchased them. Of course I'm not saying that Nextel service is going downhill, I do not have Nextel, nor do I sell Nextel. Sorry it came across that way.

 Seems I'm the one who came across the wrong way! My statement was directed to the OP, not because of anything that anyone said in this thread, but that just seems to be what a lot of people think (the network itself is going downhill) and I was pointing out my opinion on the matter. :D

i waiting for my razr vm3 to come Monday, i will switch my nextel number over to verizon network. nextel's drop calls have become a habit, like i said the service had gotten worse over the past 2 years or so and the walkie talkie just wasn't worth the frustration of interrupted connections. I like the raze because it offers a DSL connection to my powerbook via Bluetooth.

Truthfully... i think it's gotten worse. i switch because i had enough. i had nextel for about 8 years, their connections/drop calls are at there worse. it becomes frustrating when you have to keep calling back the person your talking to because of interruption for one reason or another. My wife and daughter still have Nextel until their contracts run out.

Some of you are having problems with DC reliability? I've never had problems with DC, it's actually been better with reception and quaility and reliablility than phone calls. It feels like a super dedicated "land line" type quality.
