Nextel i836

DCi836, thanks for posting those photos of your phone.

To all:
Besides the wooden box, what are the differences between the Motorola i833 and the Nextel i836?

Are there different accessories included with one and not the other?

Are there any different features or additional features on one phone and not the other?

TIA.

There are some things that are different. The big one is that on the side of the i833, it says 'PINNINFARNIA" Also, it doesnt come w/ the same accessories.

I'm pretty sure the i833 is unbranded. Also, not sure if the i833 has this but the i836 has a new DC feature called group connect. Some people have already done some small mods to it, too.

I picked the i860 for a few reasons. Everyone I see now has the i860 and plus there is a big difference in price. I like how thin the design is, just like the i830 (of course), but this phone see to be able to handle some wear and tear scratches on the case and not looked all messed up. I have a few more but I suddenly got tired....dozin off

I have had the i836 for a couple of weeks now. It might just be my phone(brand new) but it seems to have lousy reception and trouble when calling out. I get a wide array of different 'failed call try again' with a number after it on my screen. This being a main downfall, the actual phone is great and I love it. I am just a little weary about it having bad reception and dropped calls. I have heard this too about another friend that has trouble calling someone he knows that has the i836 in my area. Before he had this phone, calls were fine. :ah:

I herd alot of people have had bad reception with it so maybe i think it is the phones problem and not nextel or ya never know it might be your area

I am right in the NYC metro area and there is a lot of use with nextel phones in the area with no complaints. I get so many different errors from time to time. Like 'Please try again later' 'System Busy' and there are a few other wierd ones that I see that are worded different and they all have some number at the end on the screen. I got a call from a nextel rep yesterday to try to help me get accustomed to the data plan. She was trying to explain to me in detail pretty generic features which I explained I was aware of and that is why I took the data plan. Then I ask her some real questions about my model phone and those messages and also to help me with setting up outlook with pop3 to foward to my phone...She just paused for a very long time and kinda brushed it of and said there was probably a problem with the network. So to cut it short she just talked a lot about all of the features and tried to get me to buy some ringtones(Read this site and now know how to use the data cable) but when it came to some real questions, she had no answers. :(
