Nextel and the Direct Connect Future?

Ok so im wondering what the future plans are for nextel and the direct connect...im wanting to go back to them but not if they are going to stop the direct connect which I have heard...has anyone else heard this or is it not true...just don't want to get nextel again for a few months and then find out I can't use the direct connect
