NEXT WII/PS3 SHIPMENT THREAD...v.anywhere

circuit city manager told me that they are getting wiis by ups for the first few weeks, directly from nintendo. he said to call at noon each day or come in to see what the deal is.

i'm not saying that they aren't readily available. however, if the supplies of the stores are still there, it will create a negative buzz in regards to the "demand" of the Wii. that's why they slowly push out the quantities if you see the bigger picture. i will guarantee you there will be a select few stores with Wii's in stock on wednesday to fuel the buzz due to the fact that it's thanksgiving the following day which translates into showing off the new console and its cool innovations. after thanksgiving there will be a high volume of stock due to the traditional thanksgiving impulse buy weekend and also the coolness factor of the Wii on thanksgiving day. they will be sure to sell a lot this upcoming weekend. as for selling out? that's the gamble nintendo is taking while they are looking forward to japan's release date. if they (nintendo NA) can sell out on thanksgiving weekend, they will give the japan market a very big turnout in their japanese Wii sales (which is due to release the following week after thanksgiving). With all of that said and done, christmas will be coming up as well as shelves of Wii's and accessories to seal off the christmas wishlist

Need some inside Target information...

A truck rolls in at like 6-7pm (way before closing, let's say). Do they unload and stock and have stuff available the same night? Or do they stock overnight and whatever was on the truck is available the next morning?

To the EB statement, they'd like to get it in for Black Friday but there is no guarentee unless its the two flagship stores (NYC and CA).

I just went to a Wal-Mart here and they have tons of controllers and games, just no units. I called around to a few of the Targets here and found one store that got one unit in, just one, and no one had picked it up. So I'm going to haul ass there first thing in the morning to try and snatch it up. If I don't get lucky there I know Costco here is getting 48 in tomorrow almost for sure, if not tomorrow then Wednesday at the latest.

but are they?

I got the phone number for Target written down, but I don't want to be like the 12th million person calling them today. They may even have the phones off the hook.

As far as i know through word of mouth from a friend there are plenty of Wiis around here.
I was extremely tempted to get one and at $250 it seems like a steal, but I dunno. I'll wait to hear some real reviews from friends and wait to try it out for myself.

I don't have specific dates 'cause that would obviously vary depending on region and store, but Nintendo said they would be shipping at least 250,000 per week through the holiday season. I think that's the pessimistic estimation 'cause if the numbers at NexGenWars.com are even slightly accurate, then they would be shipping out plenty more than that.

I think Nintendo didn't want to pull a Sony and give a number that's their "goal number of units". PS3 really only had around 250,000 of the 400,000 units they said they would.

Anyways, Google News and Digg.com are great places to get the latest news/info on the Wii. Doubt any of this post helped you but... yeah.

I dont envy people working in gaming stores this holiday season. I was in EB today for all of 5 minutes buying CoD3 for my Wii, and 4 different people called about consoles. All I hear is "Hi, EB games.... No we don't have any and we dont know when we're going to be getting any" Click. The guys said the calls started about a week ago and get more frequent every day.
