Newly built computer CPU fan problem?

I have just finished building my computer and so i turn it on and hear my cpu fan making a funny sound. It sounded a bit like rattleling a pea inside a tin can. After 5 seconds i turned it off what could the problem be? Shall i try again? Or replace the cpu fan first?
I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Allin ine one processor fan
