I'm a Newbie when it comes to Cell phones but from my research I think I would like one with the following features, as I understand them to be.

I am looking for a new cell phone to buy outright (no contract) which has the following features.

1. CDMA signal
2. EV-DO or HSDPA (3 G network) for data
3. 2 +/- MP Camera with Flash
4. GPS
5. Memory Card slot for Flash Memory
6. Voice command.
7. Good to very good Listening and Talking.
8. Good sensitivity.
9. If possible:Wirelss Bluetooth for hands free communication.
10. If poosible: Wi-Fi access for faster Web browsing and file
downloads.
11. Keyboard is unimpotant as to type or style to me.

Is there, 1)such a phone that already exists, if anyone knows?; 2.)or is there a way for me to select the features I want from somebody's web-site that will show me what is available. I fing it difficult to "fish" through all the cell manufacturers sites hoping to fing answers to my wishes.

Please, someone withg wisdom in this area gret back to me A.S.A.P. I am on a tight schedule for getting a cell.

Death,

Assuming you are looking to get Verizon (since thats where you posted), there are a number of great phones out there. Asking for an opinion on here is going to get you confused if you are new to the scene. There is a database here with a list of phones, and specs on them. Or you can check out phonescoop.com for info also.

If you need something more specific just ask !!!!!

Sorry about ant delay in the number of people responding to your post.

I am Nick, a previous Verizon Wireless employee for 8 years, and I will be glad to assist you.

In the wireless market, it is difficult to get a device that will match your every need! Generally, if they have 3G...they will lack Wi-Fi. This is because if you have 3G, the need for Wi-Fi is small. Since you posted in Verizon Wireless, I am assuming you are interested in their service...great choice, in my opinion. I will attempt to help you choose the best phone for your needs.

  1. All Verizon Wireless phones have a CDMA signal, but some may also have a GSM trasmitter + SIM card for international travel, but for you...that may not be important.
  2. EV-DO, 90% of the devices Verizon Wireless (and now days, many other carriers) are 3G enabled. They will not come with HSDPA, since that is used on GSM networks, usually overseas.
  3. Many Verizon Wireless devices do have a camera, but finding a flash will be difficult, since they have stopped mass producing flash cell phone devices. It is also really hard to determine if they have a flash from online...since it won't be listed as one of the features (even if it's enabled).
  4. GPS. Even the most basic phones have the Verizon Wireless VZ Navigator. You will not find the manufacturer's GPS services on the device, since the devices are crippled.
  5. The memory card is a common, easy to find feature.
  6. All phones, to my knowledge on their network have Voice Commands.
  7. The call quality is very good on almost every Verizon Wireless device.
  8. Sensitivity? I don't exactly know what you mean.
  9. Bluetooth is a common, easy to find feature.
  10. Wi-Fi...Very RARE. The first device that comes to mind with this feature is the new Samsung Omnia. Only about 3 or so devices on Verizon's network have this feature.
  11. Most phones do not have a keyboard, but this is becoming more popular.
If you're looking for a touch screen device, the Motorola Krave ZN4 comes to my mind immediately. It includes almost all, except Wi-Fi, of the features you requested. Based on phones I have ever used, I believe this one gets the best reception. It seems to be a great phone. Texting becomes a challenge, but you get use to it. It includes the enhanced GPS application from Verizon Wireless. The pricing is $179.99 after a $50 mail in rebate.

I also recommend the LG VX8350. It is your basic flip phone, but does include almost all of the features you asked for. It has EV-DO, Music Player, memory card, V CAST Videos, and more! It is very simple, but very good. It is one of the best music phones available. The pricing is $49.99 after a $50 mail in rebate.

Then there is also the Samsung Gleam. This is similar to the above phone, but much cuter! It is very attractive.

There are a lot of other, attractive, and comparable phones you may enjoy at
