Newbie saying hello

Got me a new 2005 S83 about a month ago. Love the bike. Hate the seat. Rolled over 500 mi. about two weeks ago, did the dealer service, and now its starting to run rough. I'm taking to the dealer tomorrow. Hopefully its an easy fix.

Took my bike to the dealer, and they said to run regular(87 octane) only. I had been running mid-grade(89 octane). They want me to bring it back Monday and they will check out the carbs. So this weekend I'm going on a long ride and try to run a couple tanks of fuel through it.

you mentioned you dont like the seat--you should give alan at mean city cycles a call. they can modify your stock seat and add memory foam for 1/4 the price of a new seat.
I had them do mine and all I can say is it is now a pleasure to ride.

Welcome.

My stock seat on my '05 S83 never broke in, especially hard on the passenger. Finally replaced it at 18000 miles with a Mustang Wide Regal. Now my wife is happy, it is much more comfortable for her. I'm not so happy. The seat has moved me forward about an inch, so there is less upper thigh support, and I feel cramped on it. However I can ride 2 to 3 times farther before my backside starts complaining, and it looks a lot better than the stock seat.

As for the rest of the bike, I love it. Routine maintenance is a snap. Two things I have learned from other members on this group to watch for is loose battery terminal connections - check them a couple of times a year, and rear brake pads - the inside pad wears quickly - keep an eye on it. These pads are extremely easy to check and/or replace. By far the easiest I've ever seen.
