I'm new to all of this so I'm looking for help.

I'd like to upload a ringtone that I made on my computer to my phone. How do I do that? I tried sending a email to my phone but the attachment did not go though.

How can I do this??

theres programs that u can find on google. they let you host it somehow or another, then you can go on your phone's wap browser and dl it.

If your phone has IR, you can buy an USB Infrarred and you'll be able to transfer files from your PC to your Cellphone.
Otherwise, there're several usb data transfer cables in the store D=..

Depending on what phone you have you could just use OTADOWNLOADS.com or get Genesis 1.5 for iden Handsets with NoobJal or just Use Webjal. =)

Upload files to your mobile phone - Free file upload service on wap - mobstorage.com

It's free!

I'm similarly confused. I have a SonyEricsson Z520a and have been unable to figure out how to get the ringtones from my pc to my phone without using text messaging. I want to download directly to my computer and then transfer the file via usb cable to my phone. I found a great website and downloaded about 30 ringtones. The problem is that they go directly into MS Media Player, and I can't find them to transfer them after that. Does anyone know what to do from there? Right now I'm so fed up with this phone I could scream.

I finally figured out how to get the ringtones from freeringers.net on to my computer thanks to Mastermind5000. I learned from a tech at Sony that I could download ringtones to my computer and edit them to make them louder before transferring them to my phone which has the volume of a half dead mouse. Does anyone know how I would go about editing these files for volume? Thanks.

I forgot to add that all the responses so far have been far to vague for me to benefit. The websites just aren't sufficiently clear about the actual steps involved. I need more than "Just do it". Thanks for any help.

This piece of software claims it can - I don't know though because I haven't downloaded it. It's not free, but there's a 30 day trial. Better start converting those tone quick though! I'll see if I can find a better application later.

You could try creating a new folder on your desktop - name it "ringtones" or something like that. And sorry if this is a bit of a dumb question, but are you sure you click the save button, not the open button? If you are clicking save, then what site are you using to download the tones and i'll try it out (if it's free).

HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP! I need to know what extension to for a ringtone on this phone using cingular. Any help would be GREAT thanks! :-)

It depends what type of tone it is:

If it is a "midi" more commonly known as a "polyphonic" in phone terms, it'll have the extention ".mid".

If it is a real song (with actual voices or instruments) or "truetone", then it'll have the extention ".mp3", or in rare cases ".wma".

If it's a recording, the extention will most likely be ".amr", if not ".wav".

There are many more formats. If none of the above work, then try:

.imy
.mmf
.ogg
.m4a
.ram

To get the correct format, simply type the extention onto the end of the tone by renaming it eg: "test.mp3" or "cheese.mid"

Hope this helps :) !

Thank you! :-) You see this phone will NOT take mp3s for the ringtone it says it like the polyphonic sound. Forgive my ignorance but do this polyphonic sound mean .mid?

Yes, the file extention ".mid" stands for "midi" (musical instrument digital interface). Midi is what you may call the "proffesional" word for polyphonic  .

".mmf" is also a polyphonic extention in some aspects, but it looks like your phone supports ".mid", so I won't go into that.

I did try saving it to a folder on my desktop. They save as an *.html page which sends you back to the relay to your phone page which then sends a text message to my phone. The site is freeringers.net. Not quite free. It's $7.99 for unlimited downloads. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

You could try cbfmobile.com - that site is absolutely free, no catches! You upload the ringtone via wap, but expect a standard network fee.

Or - something very sneaky I like to do, is right-click on the preview button on a ringtone, and click "save target as...". This will save the upcoming page (ie; the ringtone) to your desktop or wherever you specify. This can be done on many sites and for some strange reason, Jamster is the only site that seems to have the sence to disable the right-click feature on their pages.

Anyway, once the ringtone is saved, just send it to your phone. If the same problem reoccures, let me know!

UPDATE: I just tried the "save target as..." on freeringers, but it was blocked. Looks like Jamster isn't the only site to see sence. I know it works on 02 though he...he...he!
