Newb here with some questions on the S50

I have been lurking around here for the past few weeks, reading up on the suzuki, and other's expiriences. Know I think its good time to introduce myself and ask a few questions. I just recently purchased a '06 S50, and loving it so far. I just dropped it off for its first service today, so its just getting into its last few break-in kilometers. I am going to start looking into customizing it, like I do with any thing I own. My first task is to change out the exhaust system, which leads me to my first question.

To all the S50 owners out there who has installed after market exhaust. I am completely new at this, and after some searching around the net, I didn't come up with much. I was wondering what you guys have installed, what exhaust you recommend, and where to shop.

If you guys have any advice or helpful tips on this bike, it will be greatly appreciated, I'm all ears.

Thanks guys.

The S50 takes the same pipes as the Intruder 800; with the exception of the missing sissy bar, the fake air cleaner/ tool box on the engine, and different handlebars and turn signals, the S50 is the exact same bike as the Intruder 800. So if you do a search for pipes for the Intruder 800, you'll find a few options.

Here is a site with Jardine Rumblers, which look and sound good:

Cobra makes a couple of different ones for the 800, one a two-side like the stock and the other with both pipes on one side. Cobra's are less expensive, but I don't think they sound as good.

Hard Krome makes a set that is good quality and good sounding also, but I have never owned a set myself.

Cruiser Magic II (CM2) ,akes some cool drag pipes for the 800 also. http://66.240.181.246/product1933.html

Or, if you want to go cheap, you can drill out your stock exhaust for more noise and snappier throttle response. Follow the directions on my website:

Have you heard from anyone else who has tried the "do-it-yourself" pipe mod for the S50 (I800)? I'm seriously considering it, but I would like more information.

I did it! What a lovely growl my bike has now! It's definitely louder and deeper than before.

Any idea how the mod will affect the gas mileage? I get about 50 to the gallon now.

Thanks, DrBob!

Thanks for the suggestion! I have already spent WAY too much money on lowering shocks and an engine guard. Pipes will have to wait awhile, so I was looking for an inexpensive way to get myself a little more noticeable on the road. Maybe I'll be able to afford new pipes after Christmas.

Good looking bike, by the way!
