New Wile E. Coyote Theater Short

Didn't really know where to post this. I don't think it counts as classic animation...

In front of the Cats and Dogs sequel (yeah, sue me, I'm a pet lover), was a pleasant surprise. There was a completely new Roadrunner vs. Coyote short, In 3D. And by 3D, I do *not* just mean CGI. The short made use of (as Kermit and Fozzie so wonderfully put it) "cheap 3d tricks" to enhance the whole "squash and stretch" aspect of the 'toon, which I thought was actually done pretty well. It's a bit odd seeing these characters translated in 3D CGI (fur on the Coyote and whatnot) but the translation was pretty faithful.

My only real complaint is that it was horribly short...
The whole cartoon involved Wile E. Coyote attempting to bungee jump his way to the Roadrunner, with the usual painful results.
Don't really know how worried people are for spoilers with this thing, but figured I'd be careful and not get myself lynched.

Far as I can figure, this topic should be fine in General Animation (maybe cross-posted to Retro---since it's Looney Tunes--- and/or the Warner Bros Club section, since the new LT cartoons/series are being discussed heavily there?).

Not seen this short yet, guess I'll see it whenever it's on DVD (*not* spending movie-theater-price money on a sequel to a film that shouldn't have been made in the first place 9-10 years ago :-p ).

This is pretty much Warner Bros. jumping onto the '3D pawns 2D' band wagon that the rest of Hollywood has been riding on this past decade. Which is kinda sad, really.

I've only seen clips of it via interviews and such but... well, about the only thing I can say about it is they don't get it.

The new Roadrunner shorts are like... people trying to mimic Chuck Jones without understanding what Chuck Jones was actually doing. So it just kinda comes off as mediocre fan fiction. It's not bad, per-se, but it isn't the original. Not by a long shot.

Personally, I'm still baffled that the WB is trying so hard to go back to the Loony Toons. Why update something that still holds its own? Why not just, oh, I dunno, do something new, with new characters and new ideas?

I doubt you'll need to. It was probably one of those "CGI Wild E Coyote shorts" that was mentioned in the press release for that new Loony Tunes show, so I'd assume you'll be able to see it on TV when the series starts airing. (although not in 3D)

Considering both have different animation styles, ie, AFAIK, the one in the movies the Coyote and Road Runner have more detailed textures on their characters and background, while the TLTS one has inferior looking backgrounds and textures that reminds me of an early last gen video game cutscene, I'm not sure about seeing the Coyote short on TV. I'm just hoping for an iTunes release of it.

I actually saw the short today. It's good that Warner Bros is getting back to it's roots, but they should do it with at least a few more gags.
And I swear to god I almost peed myself when the Warner Bros shield came up at the screen and went forward like that.
