New Transformers Film!

Film producer Don Murphy has been talking about the upcoming Transformers film. Apparently in the first draft of the script there were four main Transformers on each side but the plans are to expand that to five on each side in the next script revision. The characters of Optimus Prime, Jazz, Ratchet, Bumblebee and Arcee for the Autobots and Megatron, Soundwave and Starscream for the Decepticons. The remaining 2 Decepticons are yet to be determined.

As of now, Soundwave’s alternate mode is a helicopter, however Hasbro prefers Soundwave mass shift and the writers seem to be okay with it.

Hasbro seemed anxious to get Soundwave into musical form to unleash Ravage even if it made no sense. They wanted him to turn into something musical later in the story. Soundwave’s minions are to be included in the film and are said to be “part of him.”

Ratchet is currently set as a fire truck. The writers want to make him an ambulance, DreamWorks doesn't. Hasbro actually doesn't mind if he is an ambulance or a fire truck. Jazz will be some sort of sports car and Arcee will be some type of motorbike. DreamWorks is floating a proposal to all the car companies now and licenses being worked out.

As far as voice casting goes, Peter Cullen and Frank Welker are still Don Murphy’s first choice for the roles of Prime and Megatron.

The story is set in Southwest, USA and will be about Autobots who have been on Earth for a long time, (possibly as far back as biblical times) and are engaged in hidden war with other Transformers. It will told from human perspective. There are currently no plans for a second or third film but if the first film does well, two more are likely to follow. ILM is expect to do the effects.

The script is expected to be done by July 1st, preproduction begins September 1st and filming begins December 1st. A PG or PG-13 rating in the US is expected, as is a November 17th, 2006 release date!

I just hope this new film is half as good as the 80s cartoon film which was a cult classic!

My husband has been talking about this movie for the past three years! I can't wait for it to come out if only for him to finally shut up lol :D

I actually like Bumblebee :o

I have an original Bumbebee, stil in his packet ;)

My husband still has about 90% of the original TFs from the 80's :D

Aaaargghhh! :(

Soundwave is not a f**king Helicopter!!

Are they ditching the mini-decepticons he carries too?? :(

You can't just start messing with one of the coolest characters from my childhood. Shower of bast*rRAB!!

Talk is that George Clooney will be doing the voice of Optimus Prime.

This movie has real potential if done right. If the transformation of the robots looks real then thats going to be enough for me. Not sure how they are going to deal with Primes trailer that disappered when he change to a robot and how Megatron will change from a small gun to a huge robot.

Why don't you piss off? That'd be nice. :)

Anyways, with Mr Spielberg pushing buttons and Michael Bay on board I think this film has huge potential.

They are not ditching the mini-decepticons that Soundwave carries as he did say Soundwave’s minions are to be included in the film and are said to be “part of him.” I think this means by saying his minions which I think are his mini-decepticons so it is staying loyal in that part!

Can someone tell me whether the computer animated cartoon Beast Wars, was part of the Transformer universe, as they had a character called Optimus Prime, and it was about these Animals who could turn into Robots?

Yeah I am also happy that they have over looked Ultra Magnus but I am dissapointed not to see Hot Rod's name on the list of Autobots to feature but hopefully they will still inculde him!

It is strange to see Jazz, and not Hot Rod. How far back are they going for the story, as it seems like all the old school characters.

Starscream> *

It had better be the old school characters as well. The majority of people who will want to see this, and afford to see it, are 20 something to 30 something males who have very fond memories of the cartoons. While they don't mind some poetic licence being taken with the look of the characters, they'd better not change Soundwave like they have.

I don't mind if he turns into a tiny jukebox from being a 20 foot robot.
If I have to suspend belief to allow these robots into my world, and if I have to to believe they've been here for 2000 YEARS, then I can let that one slip!

Bernie Mac and Josh Duhamel have signed up for Transformers: The Movie. Mac will play a salesman who sells Shia LaBeouf his first Transformer. The live-action shoot of Transformers: The Movie begins this month with a view to release in July 2007!

Transformers will be pretty good if they stick to the original characters of Prime and Megatron.

Big budget effects and Spielberg collaberation will make this huge.

Brilliant news! I'll definatley be watching this film. Just hope they don't bugger it up. Unsure how transformers would fit in around biblical times? Would they be donkeys pulling carts that transform into horses pulling chariots?
