New To Satellite

I have some questions concerning these two issues.

1) One satellite and I can hook it up to however many TVs, all able to watch different channels at once?

2) What if I don't have a receiver? Would I get basic cable to that TV? My mother has her own TV not on a receiver because she does alot of recording with her VCR.
 
1) You can hook one receiver up to one tv. If you hook it up to two tvs, you have to watch the same thing on both tvs. You need two receivers.

2) You need a receiver to decode the signal.
