New to Bell Express Vu

Hello Folks

I am new to Bell EV, I just switched from Eastlink Digital Cable (Halifax) due to poor customer service and performance. I have a few question since I have come from the digital cable areana.

I have a PVD HD 9200 a 5900 PVR and a 3100 digital box and have a few questions:

1) On my digital cable guide, when I hit info it would denote new shows with "NEW" and repeats with (R). However on my Bell system this is not shown, I am aware that on the 9200 it shows the orgional air date, but the 5900 and 3100 show nothing.

2) Whay is the guide so diffrent on the 5900, 3100 than the 9200. The 9200 shows the shows info in the upper left while the 5900 and the 3100 you have to press info.

3) Is there a new version of the 5900 avaible, with a guide like the 9200 ?

Thanks

All 5900 guides are alike
I think the dual tuner receivers all have similar guides (3200, 5200, 9200)
The guide is supposed to show the original air date, however many times you will get a N/A, which isn't too helpful
I'm not sure about the 5900, but with the 9200 I know you can change the set up of the guide to customize 1 of 3 ways to suit your needs

You switched TO bell because of poor customer service......better hang on to your hat!

;)

Hmm...If Eastlink's customer service was an issue for you...

....Why would you go with ExpressVu?

Hey, I plan to order ExpressVu within the coming weeks as I'll be moving into a new house soon. I plan to install my own dish. Given that, would I be able to just walk into a Bell store and buy the equipment (dish, switch, receivers) I need there? What if I wanted to rent receivers, how would that work?

Also, I'm seeing a lot of receivers on ebay. If I buy a receiver off ebay, should I be looking for one that comes with the smartcard or one that doesn't as bell will issue one?

Spor13 when you rent a receiver you need to have a professionnal installation

Spor, make sure to verify the serial #'s of boxes bought online
If they have a balance on the account, you won't be able to activate it
I think Bell still has a free install of your 1st receiver+dish for new customers
Why not have them aim it, and then you can install the others?

I believe that they must also have on file that the previous owner confirms that they have sold the receiver to you and that you are authorized by them to activate it on a seperate account. I have sold an old 5100 PVR a couple of years ago and I had to have them make a note on my account that "John Doe" is the new owner of the reciever and that I had no claim to it anymore.

Personally, I think you would be much better off buying new equipment. You get full warranty and don't have to worry if you can activate the receiver if you buy it second hand.

I fully agree Kevin, buying or Renting new is the way to go for any New Customer, I think the advantages outweigh the 2 Year Commitment. This is my feeling, I am sure others will disagree but this way, I keep my installers happy as well with lots of installations, what happens after that 2 Years well, that is too far away to worry us right now.

I would even go as far as to say that I would Rent Equipment right now too, especially HD receivers.

It doesn't matterif the client who sold the receiver owes Express Vu or not...the balance is owed on the account, not on the receiver.

When you take receiver from an existing client an oen a receiver with it you are entitled to the "free installation" the new client who buys or rent a receiver would have. Also the new client's promo for months free or service discount does not apply to client who opens an account with used receivers. There wuld also be a 35$ transfer charge added to your first bil.

If you plan on having many receiver you may want to buy one, on a 2 years contract and will get it installed free f charge. You will get all the new client's promo. You could ask the tech to install the other receivers you bought at the same time or 50$ each, or install them yourself. All you need to do is to call the customer service to activate it. In that case there won't be the 35$ transfer charge
