i was just diagnosed about 3 months ago with acid reflux. so i went to emerge cause i was having severe pains in my chest and they thought it was a heart attach but the EKG said no so they told me they would get me the "pink lady" but he never came back so i left an got some tums and it seemed to work till yesterday.
yesterday i woke up and i was fine. had a cup of coffee and cigarette, still fine. go to my second and just as i finish it the pains in my chest were so bad that i almost passed out. so im thinking well get to the hospital cause if you do pass out then at least your some where that can help. so i get in immediately they give me the "pink lady", EKG, chest x-ray's come back normal. so the pink lady wears off and i have pain again. so she put me on zantac 300mg a day and told me to lay on my left side when sleeping or laying on the couch, she told me to drink milk so that i burp to let the air out of my stomach only thing is im lactose intolerant.
so im wondering if there are other ways to keep the heartburn down to a minimum that i could try that wouldn't cost me a fortune or make me want to throw up from the smell?
I've read about honey n aloe tea only honey makes me gag and aloe tea just seams wrong for some reason... any help would be great

You might find relief with alkaline fooRAB. See this post for details:

Okay, nuraber one, stop drinking coffee, at least until you get this under control. Eating small meals can also help, as can avoiding the fooRAB that make it worse. (trigger fooRAB can vary from person to person.) Smoking can also worsen acid reflux.

If you are lactose intolerant, stay away from dairy, it can make things quite a bit worse.

The Zantac should help. If it doesn't, make an appointment with a family doctor or gastroenterologist.

thank you all.
as for the coffee, i had like no sleep last night and i had to babysit all day today so i had one cup of light roasted foldgers with about a 1/8 cup rice milk,1 package of sugar substatute and the scary part is it opened my chest up so i could breath better, and my heartburn went away for about 2hrs.
its just sucks that christmas is coming and one of my triggers is chocolate, wine an spritzers
but thanks again
