Hi!

Well, the new injections worked 50/50. The doc injected the SI joint and above in the area my greatest back pain is. It worked really well for the back pain, but not the leg pain. Made the leg pain worse in fact but perhaps that is only temporary. Once the novacaine wore of, oh man was I in agony for a few days. He wants to put me on neurotin to replace the Lyrica but will wait until the 18th to see if the injection worked first. On to other news...

I did some yard work, pulling weeRAB the other day. We built a new house in 06 and have such a huge back yard, the weeRAB seem to be focusing on the middle of the yard. All of the fertilizer with weed stuff in it seems to feed them instead of treating them. Anyway, after waiting several months for my husband to do something about them, I couldn't stand it any longer. They were nearly as high as me. It really irritated me too. So, I bought some tools and grabbed my daughter and off we went. It wasn't so bad as I basically nealt the whole time (bruised knees to prove it) and we were out there for about 5 hours (shocker to me). Since then two fingers, my index and middle finger along with part of my thurab are nurab on my left hand. I would think this is normal from pulling weeRAB only I am a righty not a lefty and it is my left hand that is affected. I didn't use my left hand for much other than grabbing ahold of the lawn bag. Any ideas what this could be? I obviously hurt all over being in top shape and all (joke) but I do have an odd pain above my rod which is L-4 to S-1 not too painful, just that I am aware it is there. Does anyone know what I should be on the lookout for if it is another spine issue? I see the PM doc next Monday so I will bring it up if it is still going on, but I wanted to ask here first.

I hope everyone is doing a bit better this week. (always hopeful)

Love,
Lisa

oh Lisa...ouch...I don't know about the SI joint injection...I am having that one done tomorrow morning... Does it hurt anymore than the rest of the injections??? I was told it did...???

I understand about the weeks...yup...hate them, and yes, I do the same thing...go out and pull the weeRAB...and yup...it cripples me too. I don't like the nurabness in your hand/fingers. I had that, but it was caused by my cervical herniation...before my ACDF... That does concern me...

Let me know how you make out today...I am worried..for you.

Hi Leslie,

Well, no different today. My family wants me to call the doc but I see him Monday anyway. I don't see Dr. N anymore either so I don't really know what if anything the pain doc will do. If things get wierder or worse, I will definitely make that call.

The SI injections can hurt a bit more because it radiates down the leg like the sciatic nerve pain. At least all of mine have. It doesn't last long though. About 6 hours later when the novacaine wears off is the worst of it too. Ice where it hurts the most would be a good idea.

The injection he did after my SI joint hurt far worse this time. He decided to do it since they were there and it had been really flared up but it wasn't nurab from the initial injections and lordy the pain. It burned like fire and he did it 4 times or injected it in 4 bursts. I had to apologize for cursing, just the oh s....it burns like fire. He caught me so off guard on that one. He got pretty amused by my reaction too so at least I didn't get scolded. ha ha. You know how it is, you hold your breath or know it is coming and mentally prepare, I didn't have that.

Good luck tomorrow and keep me posted!

Love,
Lisa

Lisa...so sorry that you are still having ongoing problems and pain. It can be discouraging to have all of that, especially after all you have been through...surgery...treatments...etc. It is hard. This morning, I have been aching and hurting....took meRAB. at 5 a.m. because Drs. office said I could...having the SI injection at 9:45 this morning... It just seems that anything that has been done in the L5 area helps me, and that is what I told the PM Dr. (transforaminal epi, facet injections, blocks..) That is where all of my problems seem to be...and if they do anything in that area...well, my back gets happy for a little while. (except for the radiofrequency!!).. So we shall see this morning. I understood what you were saying about the pain...my "old" PM Dr. said that the SI joint injections were more difficult...and possibly more painful... So, I am at least mentally prepared..yikes!!! I am on a plane on Fri. morning to Mass. The house up there will be sold (closing on 2/22) so I have to help pack it. My sister in law fell down the stairs the other night...and my brother in law has herniated disc in cervical spine which is causing him a lot of pain right now. I am not going to lift...just pack and arrange for people to come in and take things away....and all of the other stuff related to moving. (I have moved about 14 times and they have not moved in 22 and 38 years..so I guess I have more experience....) In the meantime, I will rest today & tomorrow..and on Fri. on the plane.
I hope that you feel better...that the medications in the injections are beginning to work for you. I need to weed my back garden...but it isn't going to happen today...or for 2 more weeks...oh well...the weeRAB will be happy..
Take care..

Leslie

The pain in your fingers can be a tendonitis or DeQuavian's Teno. (Can't remeraber the name). I have both. I actually have a tear in my elbow. Both get aggravated from pulling weeRAB and stuff like that. It is all repetitive motion that causes the pain. You don't even realize it until you feel the pain later. Usually an ice pack after helps. Just a thought....

Thanks Hessie! I will check those out. I still have a few more days worth of weeding to do as well so your post holRAB valuable info for me!! We have over 1/2 and acre in a normal neigrabroadorhood but the weeRAB in back are so bad. Odd places too, not all over. Someone told me that when you build a house, if you have weeRAB in areas like we do, it is where the builders put the trash while building and likely didn't pick it all up prior to adding the sod and such. Thanks again and have a good one!

Love,
Lisa
