New Sprint Treo 700P vs. Used SE P910A

Here is my dilemna...and sorry for the long post

I have been a Sprint customer for years, I have no problem with their service, I get a nice discount, but I am no longer under contract and have *no* intention of signing another contract with them for any reason or any incentive.

I currently have a VM4050, which is a great phone, but I want somewhat better PIM functions, internet browsing (for example, display an airline site so I can checkin online - no WAP), texting and photo/video storage. I don't want anything too big, though. I don't need to run fancy applications or access corporate email, so that should not play into the decision. This is just a good phone with some added features for me.

I LOVE the SE P910A, and most people agree it's one of the best phones every made. It would be a slam dunk decision to get this phone and switch to Cingular - except it does not have nearly the web speed of the Sprint Treo 700P. It may even be as slow and painful as browsing on my VM4050 - which is very slow and painful. I can buy a P910A on ebay for under 300 in excellent condition.

If I sign up with Cingular, I can get a corporate discount, a similar rate plan to Sprint (although my two lines are in two different regions, so I would need to split them off into sep. accounts), but I would need to sign a 2 year contract. However, unlike the flat $200 charged by Sprint to leave, Cingular only charges $10/month remaining on the contract.

The Treo 700P is a great unit and has been well reviewed. It has super fast internet, but it's acres bigger than the VM4050 and the P910A and is definately not for the pocket. I wouldn't have to drop Sprint, nor would I need to sign a new contract to swap this phone if I buy it at retail price or use another method (outlined below) to get it cheaper. I would need to add PowerVision, but I don't think that requires a new contract either.

IF I get the 700P, I could use one of those ebay sellers that does not specify a 6 month minimum on the line, buy the phone for about $80 using a friend to sign up for me, keep the line for 30 days, cancel, then I get the Treo for $80+$200 cancel fee+first month's plan fee - so abit over 300 total.

So given my cost for both phones is about even, which would everyone recommend as the better choice?

My priorities are:

size...features...speed
