I kind of agree with nicohockey9. The trouble with Sportsnet is that most of their games (i.e. hockey) are regional. Except for one region, the others are blacked out when a game is on. I don't think there is ever a time when I could watch more than one game at the same time. All I really need is one Sportsnet channel.
It's for time shifting like connected & HockeyCentral etc.. Live games are blacked out. Seems kind of odd to add a channel simply for a few shows timeshifting. I suppose In the summer 1 HD channel could have a Blue Jays game in HD and the West showing another sport LIVE in HD. Kinda like an answer to TSN2...
They don't even have 2 live sport event to show at the same time. First of all, they should start showing in HD their "exclusivity" like the LPGA Canadian Open. It was painful watch it in SD last year with a terrible picture quality.
I thought sportsnet is already available in HD
Unfornutaly history has proven the amount of HD channels does not necessarily change the amount of HD content shown.
Not really a "TREMENDOUS waste of space". The transponers have been assigned for months, they were just listed as SNHD2, SNHD3, SNHD4 but they were only broadcasting regional games. I would imagine the bandwidth for broadcasting 24/7 were taken into consideration when the transponders were first assigned.
I for one hope this means I will get more options for MLB games in HD this summer. There have been times where SD Pacific channel would show a different game than SD Ontario , which meant that the HD channel would only show the Ontario.
I have been so conditioned now that sports=HD that I can't watch any sport that isn't shown HD.
Pretty sad when you think addition of new HD services are a waiste. For basketball fans, baseball fans and timeshifting fans, it is amazing to have 3 new HD services.... you cant win if you do, cant win if you dont... hmmm. amazes me how people dont see value.?
Not sure this was just a Bell issue, but the Oilers played games on Sat and Sunday that were broadcast on Sportsnet West SD, but not on the new Sportsnet West HD. Furthermore, the Sportnet West HD channel had a info banner (albeit one that gave the wrong time for the games) indicating the games would be on that channel.
Was this a Sportsnet issue (i.e. nobody got the games in HD) or a Bell issue (i.e. other providers had the games in HD)
There have been a few games not broadcast in HD this year, although I remember an ad saying that all Oilers games on Sportsnet would be broadcast in HD, I'm sure I missed some fine print though.
The game had an HD Detroit feed and I believe the Min game had one as well. Not sure if Sportsnet didn't get all the agreements in place with all the other teams or what has happened.
