New Sony HDTV picture blurry?

So i recently purchased a sony bravia 40 inch HDTV. I got HDMI cables and everything. The picture to my ps3 is excellent, but the picture to my at&t uverse box isn't as great. It has good picture but it seems a little blurry. Is the reason because the channels aren't in HD. My resolution is fine and everything. This only happens for my cable. Should i order the HD channels from at&t?
