Erm... Should be moot at this point - as I got an instant message saying to go get it about a week ago now >_<

Go to Email - it'll ask if you want to connect to get the app...

I dunno... it connected and got it...

I apologize for bumping an old thread, but I just got this phone as a new Cricket customer.. And I dont see ANYWHERE, where I can download an IM application. If someone can tell me how, id greatly appreciate it. Ive been through all the mobile web and "Cool apps" download sections, and I cant find it.

Furthermore, I am having trouble getting picture messages from a friend of mine, that ive read is a problem with this phone, and to a further extent, cricket itself. Ive changed MY resolution to a lower one, she's changed hers, and I changed my general picture settings from "Fine" to "economy", still no luck. I even called them and had them *228 and reprogram it... Just throwing that out there as a warning.

A gripe I have also, you cant set custom ring tones for text messages. Its one ringtone for ALL text messages. If theres a work around for this, please inform me.

So, as a new Cricket customer, and New Howardforums meraber, can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

evdo would have probably sealed the deal for me, even if it added $50 to tihe price... now i will just wait until i can hold one to make a decision... anyways... it can't be worse than the lingo...
 
I dunno how different the MetroPCS version is...
For me, "OK" "9" "3" "2" "2" "1" gets to the text message settings for cutom ringtones.

My gripe... MP3's have to be put in the "Ringtones" folder in order to use them as ringtones...
And the mp3 player can't play music from the ringtones directory.

I suppose I could cut down the mp3 file and just put a clip as the ringtone - but I have enough memory that I don't bother...
 
scheduled to launch on 8-12-08, comes with an application ive never heard of called rabble? some sort of social networking...when i used this phone during testing it was very glitchy when it came to the screen going from portait to lanRABcape, hopefully that have worked this out
 
do you mean different ringer for each contact's text messages? i think only moto supports this...

there is no IM app released yet. no one (that i know of) has said there was one.

there is an IM app and an email app in development that will hopefully bereleased soon. as with everything there is a possibility that these will never see the light of day.
 
Yes, that is what I meant, I used to do it on my Verizon LG VX9800. And unfortunately, the steps just mentioned ("OK" "9" "3" "2" "2" "1") were only to set the tone for all texts, not individual contacts. It sucks that this cant be done, I loved knowing whos text I was getting before I could read it. Those days are gone from me now :P

I hope an IM app comes out soon. Id like to use it. Thanks for all the help.
