new Russell Tovey sitcom

The adverts were very good in making the show out much better than it is. Felt disappointed by the episode particularly since I've only heard good things about Russell Tovey. Been let down by BBC Three's new shows recently in particular this & The King is Dead.

So so so so quoted for truth.

I really do like Russell Tovey, but the adverts had no relevance to the programme whatsoever.

She was made out to be a little bit evil, she ate his posh ham. Unforgivable! But it just feels a little Two Pints. Filthy and unintelligent humour. Not that I have problem with that, but it's been done, and been done better.

As for The King is Dead, That was I was actually coming to bitch about *grins*

I had it on whilst cleaning my shaver, but found it a bit gruesome and switched over - I can't stand kissing scenes where it's obvious the characters haven't long woken up and thus haven't yet brushed their teeth.

Well not having any such fixation I watched it all the way through and found it very funny indeed, very well written real to life comedy with many laugh out loud moments.

However that's my personal view and I'm sure there will be as many people dismissing it at yet another totally unfunny BBC3 comedy as there are agreeing with me.

So I'm afraid you're gonna have to watch it yourself and find out :D

I'm a big RT fan, but didn't really enjoy this tbh. Wasn't overly funny, although props to them for making it very realistic. I didn't like the whole grubbiness of it, especially the girlfriend shitting on the loo. :p That's sounds like I'm such a prude, but I just didn't think it was necessary.

I thought it was different - but I did like it and I'll watch it again next week. I agree with Moggio too, I like Russell alot and think he's a great little actor.

Someone on another forum described it as looking like a nice observational sitcom with moments like the ham and the shatter proof ruler in the trailer but opening "blow job" line made clear that it wasn't "like Gavin and Stacey" as Tovey had described.

I'm aware I'm sounding a bit prudish but we have crude sitcoms like Two Pints... and Coming of Age. Do we need more?

Glad you thought this too! I'm a big fan of Russell Tovey as well but I didn't find the programme funny and it was uncomfortable because it was so - as you put it - grubby!

I stuck with this to the end (and come on it is ep one RAB) and it turned out to be quite funny and I will be going onto ep 2.

Stick with this and you will be rewarded.

I normally like Russel Tovey, but so far I don't like either his character or performance in this.

I feel a bit uncomfortable watching it, because it's so grim and dirty. I don't think it's funny either, but it has something about it that I find compelling (for want of a better word, 'compelling' is overdoing it a bit), so I might well keep watching.

Perhaps it's brilliantly observed... I wouldn't know as thankfully I don't think I know anybody quite like that!

Russell Tovey is a good actor, but this is just the pits!

I saw this last night, and he only thing that made me laugh was him being caught watching the webcam girls!

BBC3 must be commissioning a lot of mediocrity this winter. Bring back "Man Stroke Woman" and "Pulling".
