It sure was better in pretty much all practical aspects that mattered. The body of the 6800 was easier to hold and not slippery and smudge resistant. The 6800 had actual useful buttons. The TP has a nifty button system, but 4 individual buttons would have been more functional. Having a start, email, and camera button is what I miss the most on my TP. Can't forget about that volume/scroll wheel on the side. That was very handy.
If HTC would have just taken the 6800, increased the hardware a bit, maybe upped the screen, it would have been a good successor. I wish I would have not accepted the TP as a in store Assurion replacement for my 6800. I should have waited for one to be shipped.
That's what happened to my 6800. the space bar became so unreliable. I literally wore it out as I used that phone non-stop for Exell out in the field.
With my TP, the keyboard is so flaky, I don't even bother to waste my time sliding it out.. since 3/4 of the the time it freezes up or repeats the same letter a hundred times.
Simply, I used my 6800 for alot of tasks, I hardly bother with my TP since it's not very reliable and ends up just frustrating me.
You have mentioned this a couple of times about Clay. What is his secret if you can share it with the public.. is he a Alltel insider?
Does the Droid do decent Exchange support? The Hero is praised highly for what HTC did in respect.
