New Phone(s)

Can someone clear up the difference between divested and non-divested alltel markets? The areas waiting to change to AT&T are considered divested? And these are the markets that are potentially getting the HTC hero? The other markets (Allied wireless) are not?

Divested markets are markets that VZW must sell. These are places where they had a presence before the buyout. Both the AT&T and Allied markets are divested. Until the sale to AT&T and Allied are approved, Alltel is still considered it's own company, doing business as usual. All divested markets (AT&T and Allied) will get the same phones when they are released.

I just called customer service and they say they don't have any news of any new phones. Hopefully the "inside" information from the first post is correct and hopefully it won't take forever. It has always been enjoyable being with Alltel, but the situation with no phone refresh is starting to suck.

Verizon: Droid, Eris, Touch Pro 2, HTC Imagio, Samsung Omnia 2, Palm Pre plus, etc
Att: iPhone, Touch Pro2, etc
Sprint: Palm Pre, Hero, Touch Pro 2
TMobile: MyTouch 3G, Moto Cliq, Touch Pro 2, HTC HD2 (end of this month)

Alltel: Their top of the line model is an over 2 year old HTC Touch Pro.

my response from an inquiry online to Alltel about new phones:

Alltel Online Customer Service"

I like their use of the word 'frequently'. They 'frequently' update their plans, promotions, and products. I don't know what world they live in..but Alltel is far from the definition of frequent in relation to these topics.

You won't get any answers about new phones from customer service or emailing anyone....

99.9% of the people you will come in contact with only find out about new equipment usually a week or two before it comes out...

there is a small fraction of people that get information earlier...

waste your time emailing or calling, if that tickles your fancy, or keep a lookout here....i guarantee you, you'll find out about a new phone release here (or hell, even a Google Search) FAR FAR sooner than you would by calling in or emailing....(and that is a PROVEN fact....you're more than welcome to check past threads to verify if you wish)
