New Only Fools and Horses DVD

Also references to foreigners, or cheeky comments to describe foreigners are dubbed over in episodes of only fools.

- a loosing streak, in this episode Del says 'what are the odRAB on you picking the only gippo weight watcher in London?' but is replaced with: 'what are the odRAB on you picking the only genuine weight watcher in London?'

-the class of '62, Trigger originally says 'there's that italian prat' but is replaced with 'there's that italian player'.

-stage fright, Boyie makes a comment about death sentences on muslims which is now cut.

John Sullivan is well known for bringing up the topic of foreigners in his scripts.

No OFAH material has recently been submitted to the British Board of Film Classification so i'd imagine the DVD's are exactly the same as the previous release.

Both broadcasts and dvd releases are dubbed.

although the scene where Boycie mentions death sentences on muslims is only cut on TV, and can still be seen on old video/dvd releases.

I hope note. Then there would be no point in a re-release. The BBFC site is not very accurate. Besides, the episodes may not need re-classifying.

The original dvd's are edited for a reason and that is music rights.
Clearances for music are always a problem and it affects more classic shows than it doesn't.

Unless there has suddenly been a new deal with the BPI - which we would have heard about - the set will be the same as before.

At least the episodes are not cut for PC reasons like the tv broadcasts.

Your one chance to get a longer episode is the godawful A Royal Flush.

In 2004 the BBC allowed John Sullivan to edit the episode to his liking which resulted in edits of 20 minutes .

IIRC the BBC dvd runs 58 minutes.

Before he was let loose on it the OFAH magazine/dvd collection had released that episode so if you track that down you can get the uncut version on dvd lasting 78 minutes

Apart from that , all the usual edits apply

Is that what Rodney said that time about what to put down as his father's name on his next passport application then?

If any episodes contained ANY material that was not part of the previous releases the new version of that episode would have to be reclassified.

It is the same as the previous release:

Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately as this is a repack and re-release of our previous release for this title. Although the laws regarding music clearance has changed we are unable to justify the expense of going back to original TX copies, re-clearing, re-authoring and new replication.

We apologies for the disappointment this may cause.

We appreciate all of the feedback that we receive from the viewing public, so thank you again for your correspondence.

Yours sincerely,

I did not open it so its going stright back to the shop.:mad::mad:

The edits are incredibly annoying, but as has been said neccecery- without them they couldn't have been released at all. What isn't forgiveable, however, is the butchering of both A Royal Flush and Miami Twice- both of those are unforgivable. I know John Sullivan wasn't pleased with Royal Flush, but what he did just totally ruined the episode. And whoever decided it was a good idea to dub a laugh track on the second part of Miami Twice neeRAB to be shot.

Ronnie mate, sorry to hear that, honestly I am, as I'm a huge only fools fan too.

but lets be honest - did you really expect the episodes to be full (without cuts)?

c'mon... you know what BBC are like.

only way to get the episodes in full, is if you record them on GOLD. (sky digital).

I would be interested in info on what has changed regarding music clearances .
It must be a fairly minor change as there are still plenty of titles where it's a major issue.

The episodes on GOLD are cut even worse than the dvd's.
PC has gone mad with slang terms for foreigners aswell as lots of other supposedly offensive dialogue edited out.

Although the music remains intact on tv the dvd's have replaced most of the music with alternate tracks so at least there are no edits just because Del refers to the P*ki shop .
It's a shame the BBC and Gold think the viewing public are too stupid to be able to view these shows in the context of when they were made.
Although many actually are.

does this explain why when a royal flush is on G.O.L.D it has been edited to within an inch of its life??
i cant watch it anymore, its been ruined!! i thought it was edited just because GOLD didnt want to show a long episode. so are you saying we will never be able to see the full episode again
