New Nokia N80 FW MCU SW v04.0707.0.7. - UPDATE

My N80 will stay as is for it is running absolutely perfect. If you don't need the update, I wouldn't do it just for the heck of it -

No, I know the difference between the two. The battery saver comes after the screensaver after a minute. But after about a second, the screensaver loses its Time/Date Display and is just blank for that minute then it switches to battery saver. This new firmware sucks. No Service Command prompts, the Music Player lacks support for ID3 2.4 even though it worked before, camera has shaking issues again, flashing typing indicator during a call even if no numbers are pressed . . . why would Nokia release such a bad firmware? I miss 4.06 already

Actually my phone was already a N80ie when I bought it, but I upgraded it to the latest firmware 4.0707.0.7 using NSU. Now I see where you mean... thanks!

Of course since I just updated it I get the message "No Updates Available" because there really aren't any.

But I wonder if you need to enter something in the Server Profiles to get that to work. Up at the top of the Device Manger screen I see it says "Updates" and arrow pointing to the right. It I go to the right it takes me to a page entitled "Profiles" which says "No server profiles defined". I wonder if we need to put some server profile on there to get this to work?

Well that makes me feel better in a way that you never were able to get it to work either on the Home Network because now I know that it is not something I am doing wrong and so we can really start to complain to Nokia that it doesn't work.

I found out that the driver they have for Windows Media Player 10 does work, but *not* like Nokia says for "WMP 10 or above" It definately does not work with WMP 11... just keeps prompting you to install the driver over and over and over again endlessly. But once I rolled it back to WMP 10 it works as advertised.

Another topic on the Nokia forum is there were some people complaining that EAP-PEAP did not work, and now they are saying that is *does* work with the new firmware.

However, as far as I can tell about that topic is that it appears to me that in order to use that EAP-PEAP with MS-CHAPv0 you have to have a network with an authentication server and maybe use active directory which is way more complex than my 4 computer workgroup network is.

Do you have any knowledge in that area?

Initially I thought if I could get it to authenticate that way instead of with WPA Personal and a Pre Shared Key which is what I am doing maybe it would solve the problem with the Home Network situation, but now I think not and I think that you can only use that kind of connection if you are connecting to a complex business network that has a lot more security feature than mine does.

Thanks for the info!
