New Nokia N80 FW MCU SW v04.0707.0.7. - UPDATE

Actually I've changed my mind about this update. The battery life has increased at least 20% and I get less out of memory with the browser. I checked out the multimedia key and I can customize the long press. Ram at boot has gone up from 17.5 to just under 19. The phone is a little faster too.

When will it be available FOTA? I tried and it says that there arent any new updates. How long does it take before the FOTA update recognizes the update?

just downloaded it and upgraded from
v 4.0623.0.42
20-09-2006
rm-92
nokia n80 (02)

now when i type *#0000# the fw now reads

V 4.0707.0.7
28-03-2007
RM-92
Nokia N80 (11)

differences ive noticed so far:
- a little bit faster
- added a dictionary in the 'my own' folder its a pic of a red book that has a yellow ?chinese? character on it that looks like a vertical line with a box in the middle. when i try to open it it says "dictionary word information missing. install word database"
- as well in the 'my own' was added, 'download!' which seems to be the new nokia catalog program, 'internet tel.' (do i really need to get into what that is lol), 'lifeblog' - which actually isnt installed and when i go into it it tries to install but i have no intention of using it so i wont
- 'wlan scanning off' appears on the idle home screen (when active display is turned on, havent checked w/o)

unchanged:
- the clock time bug for when text messages are received has not been fixed. if you set the phone to automatic network update of the day/time your text mesage time will be off by 4 hours (i am currently in toronto, canada using the figers network) guess ill just have to tell my phone the home time zone is reykjavik iceland again (sigh)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
question - does anyone know what the (02) that it used to say and the (11)that it now says in my firmware means? i know they are regions but i have yet to find a list of the region codes of nokia firmware
I've got 4.0632.0.38, and I've already got the Download! and Internet Tel folders, so that isn't new.
There's a sticky at the top of the forum with region codes. You should go check that one out.
All I've seen so far is a slightly faster browser and a meg more ram. I've heard that this upgrade messes about with media key customization but I never use that.Generally not worth the hassle of reinstalling everything on the phone.
voice quality in voip calls has decreased severely, extremely noticible, if your big on voip, i wouldnt upgrade. i also read other users are having problems with there browser crashing a lot after updating. I updated mine, and i already can't wait for the next update that fixes all the problems this one caused ;/
I was second guessing myself after the incident and I couldn't remember any situation where I was compromising the update. There really is a bug on the NSU. Good thing there are shops who can revive these bricked phones.
No probs with multimedia key at all. Yes, its a bit faster but the huge change is in the music department, quality has been boosted a lot, now we do get some real bass
The font of wlan and calendary in standby screen has been decreased a lot (I liked them the way they were...)
and after locking keypad in just a couple of seconds the screen turns off (way faster tnah before), so I guess it may save some energy
hi, newbie here..please don't bite..
anyways, just wanna ask if you guys would recommend this update coming from n80ie 4.0632.0.38 firmware, should i upgrade or skip it?
so far my only gripe on my current firmware is the lack of memory, i always get this annoying "memory full close some apps and try again" message.
Thanks for the link to Phoenix!
Wow, this would be a really big issue for me as I use VOIP to make calls literally every day. I was planning on updating, but after this I think I'll skip.
Are you sure about this? I was going to skip this fw until i saw your post, that screen light really annoys me when it' on for so long.
Now i guess i have to upgrade
