If it won't power up, then you are screwed . . . paperweight much?

On the bright side, you could get it repaired by Nokia if you bought it here or when you go back to the PH go to any Nokia center for them to repair it.

Actually, when my phone was disconnected from my pc, I couldn't turn it on either. Hence the heart attack. But no, after I'd let it finish updating, it fired right up. It's possible that's what happened here.

Ugh, and I just upgraded and reinstalled everything last night!

I tried to update by FOTA just now - it just kept saying there were no updates available. Anyone been able to get it?

This is weird. I had done this update through NSU before and I never had any problems. Ok this morning it's again downloading the updates. Hopefully it works. I bought this phone at phonesource-usa's ebay store.

Still no good. Called NOKIA Care and they said I have to contact the Asian support center? WTF? Can anybody help point me in the right direction?

There's no info on the changes yet. I would also like to know if it is going to be a useful upgrade.

Maybe I should just do it.

buddy
you gotta learn how to use google
did a google search for nokia asia support center
nokia asia: contact us - http://www.nokia-asia.com/nokia/0,8764,78395,00.html
nokia asia: care center locator - http://www.nokia-asia.com/nokia/0,,89837,00.html
theyre probably sending you to an asian support center i would guess because the phone is of asian origin - i dont know what nokia usas policy is about fixing phones from asia but im guessing they make you send it to asia judging by the instructions you received

As Far as more available RAM on a fresh boot, I gotta say, I dont see it. As far as the multimedia key goes, what is removed is the ability to change the app that opens when you press and hold the multimedia key down...The previous firmware, you could change it, as well as all the ones inside ( except the configure button). Now, you cannot change the default press and hold app...it opens Nokia's music player.

Busy downloading it via Nokia Software Update. If it is a "huge virus that renders my phone useless forever", I'll have Nokia to blame because the update is on their server.

I actually downloaded and upgraded my old man's firmware (yeah, because I was too chicken to do it on my own phone). I didn't really see any difference, except that the contacts backup was actually restored. Granted, I didn't spend all that much time tinkering with it.

Those connects/disconnects are the reason I hate NSU. I did all my previous firmware updates with Phoenix and never had a problem. This time, I used NSU as I couldn't find the standalone Euro firmware package. To make a long story short: NSU bricked the phone (couldn't turn it on), took it to local shop and had it revived, used NSU again to update - at 80%, message that connection was lost... I clicked Retry and it finished successfully. Phew! In the future, I think I'll stick to Phoenix and FOTA (if available).

I've upgraded mine and this is the difference I see in the phone:

WLAN scanning off on the main screen.
Under tools I have a new icon. WLAN wizard.
Overall speed is better.

I'll let you guys know as soon as I find out more.

Could you give me a link to this Phoenix program? I'd like to give it a shot if I ever have to update and FOTA isn't available/working.
