New Nightmare on Elm Street Teaser Trailer online! (Merged)

The dream sequences could be awesome in 3D.

I wonder if they will have Freddie a "comic" character rather than scary, because in the original line up he started off creepy and kinda went a bit comic.

They need another character to put Freddie up against. Hes already met with Jason, and we just ended up back at square one. I think maybe the Ghostbusters could get drafted in to kill him for good.

Or Scooby Doo - and they could take his mask off and there will be a huge twist, like it being Maggie Thatcher or something.

I was actually looking forward to this, I love the original (and the rest of the series) but thought a new take on things could be good, there was certainly scope to make an interesting film.

Soon as I saw the trailer I thought it looked atrocious though and I know I shouldn't be surprised as platinum dunes have never made a film that has passed the level of acceptable, I guess I was just hoping for a little more this time.

This film is getting seriously savaged by nearly everybody, Kermode ripped on it, Ebert 1 starred it and practically everybody from the critics to the fans have said it's terrible.

15% on rotten tomatoes, that's really bad.

I'm actually kind of sad, what a wasted opportunity. Think i'll stick on the original now.

Can't say I'm too impressed but it looks a competent enough movie. To be honest it does look exactly how I expected:
  • Visually very well made BUT lacking the chilling, raw feeling that made the original work so well (probably mostly due to familiarity with the subject matter).
  • Forced,melodramatic dialogue and acting.
  • Teens who look in their mid 20's.
  • Very uncreative,worn storyline
  • Human villain as opposed to "pure evil" Freddy from the 80's.
  • Generic direction
  • No comedy involved

Ofcourse that is only the teaser but seeing as this a Michael Bay/Platinum Dunes production, that is what we will most likely get.

I had to laugh at Freddy's dialogue in that teaser because it sounded like Sean Connery doing a dodgy accent!

There was some conversation that took place where Robert was considered but He did say he had done all the Freddy he wanted to do and will not consider doing any more with the character. I am not really bothered that he didn't want to do it but i think they could have got someone better than who they have got i mean he looks to small for a start i mean would you be terrified of someone that's under 6ft LOL i know i wouldn't be, he looks a joke. Plus the fact in the trailer the writers are making him out to be innocent WTF is up with that!! Freddy is brutal killing machine he shows no remorse This is just another lame effort to prove that the studio has no other option to go with the story than spending big bucks on desecrating Wes Cravens original. Give us a prequel to the original. If i wanted a re imagining of this i would just simply watch the alternative scene on the DVD for the original 1984 classic.

Saw this tonight and it was a pretty average run-of-the-mill slasher movie. Added nothing new to the franchise and was a pointless remake.

It gave Freddy a backstory but the thing that ruined the whole movie was Freddy himself!

Jackie Earl Haley i feel was miscast. Didn't look the part or even suit the part. He is a short actor, not very tall and he was the same height as the kiRAB he was killing! It just didn't feel right and he just wasn't scary, threatening or menacing enough. I didn't find him at all believable in the role.

His 'face' just looked wrong and his voice, my god his voice was just utterly laughable. You're supposed to feel scared/be shitting yourself!!! But you just couldn't take it seriously at all! The worRAB he was coming out with, it was like someone was taking the piss! His dialogue was utter crap.

The film had a couple of 'jump' moments but the trailer for Rec2 had me more tense than watching this for the whole 95min length running time. If you've seen the original, don't bother watching this.

Simply put Europeans do horror much better than Americans.

PS. Oh and yes, they've already greenlit a sequel to be shot in 3D!

I love the second one, not only is freddy just about at his most evil but it's one of the most homo erotic horrors of all time as well, it's basically 80's pure solid gold :D

By the way for any nightmare fans (modern film poster designers should look and learn here) do you remember how great the posters used to be.

Graham Humpheys who did them and some of the evil dead ones and i have to say they are brilliant, they just don't make posters like this now, take a look.

Just goto add reply then in the list (where theres bold, italic underline etc) and its the last one on the row to the far right (its a grey s)

Then just quote it in the spoiler you want to cover up like this

this is how to do it.

I dont think it will take over from the original NOES series. I think it will be a fresh look at the story but i think people will still love the original films alongside these new ones. I don't think anyone will pick a side as the definitive Freddy Kruegar.

Not to sure about the voice, didn't know it was the watchmen guy playing him either so not keen a bout a short arse Freddy......I'll probably still give it a watch though can't be any worse than the Friday the 13th reboot...
