New n85 nam firmware is out!

I don't know why, but if this trend continues, I may have faith in buying another Nseries. First the N79, now this, next the N97...things may be looking up for NAM FW updates.

(even though the N79 an N85 FWs were released a while ago for other regions)

Yay!! They finally fixed my WLAN issue..

Before the F/W update... When a WLAN AP is defined it takes me at least a minute before it connects to the WiFi.

After the F/W update.. 5 seconds.. that's it!! That's all it took to connect to my WiFi.

Can't remember how many times I had to restart update process. Been on the 1 second update forever. I'm actually hoping it fails so I can unplug and take my chances. I was hoping to get the E72 when it came out. Now I may reconsider and get the BB 9700.

In regards to the volume icon.....can't you just change the theme and have the icon change as well.

Maybe the default icon has this triangle volume icon but if you were to change to a different theme (albeit maybe a third party theme like ones from tehkseven or others) the icon should look different.

It seems that Nokia took out v30 for 1 or 2 N85 models a little while ago. I updated to v30 but navifirm no longer lists my N85 as having a v30 available...

thanks candyman for your response. your suggestion is very sound and makes a lot of sense. however, to be quite honest and at the risk of sounding a newbie, i haven't had any experiences using third-party themes. i've always just used the ones that are built-in on the phone :embaresse but one of the main reasons i like the n85 is the nseries 1 theme built-in, with its black and orange theme going on :)

Ya so I still haven't updated the firmware because I am at work. I don't want to do it OTA because I heard that I have to back up my phone data first? What about the data in the memory card? Is it better to do a hard reset before the firmware update?

I do not have handy taskman on my phone, I had a 5800 version of handyshell and handy weather that I purchased but the code will not work on my N85.

So far I've noticed quicker Wifi connection (for me it was like a half sec, wasn't an issue before), better GPS (I finally saw a (8) in the GPS field on google maps), fixed the browser input bug, overall it feels a little snappier. I haven't checked the photo quality yet, but I can't imagine the quality going backwards.

Kinda off topic, but Truphone finally officially supports the N85 (it worked with 4.0 for me, they seemed pertrubed when I was able to get around an register it... but 5.0 is official for the N85)
