Just as I had suspected...

" Sorry, there is no software available for your product code "

Which is the same message I get if I just make up a PC. If I check 0539343 (Music Edition Euro1) it lists the current firmware.

Hrmm, now I am getting the code off of the back of my phone. This site is Nokia's Europe regional site, do they block product codes from other regions by any chance? (I doubt it, but its worth asking).

I wonder. I had to change my product code from 0539296 (v2.0628.0.0.3) to 0527009 (v3.0649.0.0.1) just to be able to update. Each time a new firmware came out I would try to update and NSU would say that there was no software update available for my phone. I thought it was fishy.
