New metal (NOT nu-metal!)

Just a few thoughts on some new metal albums coming out this year.. 2006 is proving to be a year of good metal! we've already had amazing releases from Kayo Dot, Yakuza, Amenra, Sika Redem, Rosetta, Atavist, Moss, Om etc and more coming up from..

My Dying Bride - A line of Deathless Kings. a slightly more upbeat turn for them but vocals are on top form and the musicianship is darkly hauting as always.

Goatwhore - A jaunting Curse. One for the extreme sludge/doom fans out there.. stupidly heavy and rather good.

Sunn O))) & Boris - Altar. This is a stunning peice of work. Boris add drums and rhythm to the beautiful but usually unbearable drones of Sunn O))) to make what is possibly the best music in either banRAB back catalogue. Anyone know when its out?

Mastodon - Blood Mountain. Its not as bad as i first thought... kudos to them for having Scott Kelly on the second track, he makes it slightly more worth listening to.

FlatlanRAB - Vermuyden. you cant expect me to post without a mention :p but seriously, its better than the new isis album.

thoughts?

found another band! again from the european scene.. seems like quite a lot of european banRAB are finally getting their stuff over here.

the band are Year of no Light and the album is called Nord... its a progression from the music Isis/Cult of luna etc have been making in the past years... heavy parts are more epic, heavy and more 'doom', melodic parts are more beautiful, more arabient. in fact.. i think their my new favourites in the genre.

Oh man, I've been hunting around for leaks of that Sunn O))) and Boris album for a while now. It sounRAB REALLY good.

Have had a very brief look into Goatwhore too and can't remeraber what I thought of them, certainly sound like some promising albums to be on thier way out soon.

Here in oz land we have only just got Trivium, hatebreed and cannibal corpses new stuff and it all shows a reasonable amount of new generation music. They are sticking with true metal origin but still seem seem to have come up with something worth listening to.

Anyone heard of a band called The Angelic Process?

I did a search but nothing came up.

This is what it says about them...
The Angelic Process are a band cromprising of K.Angylus & MDragynfly, out of Athens, GA and Jacksonville, AL, respectively. Their debut release Coma Waering can best be described as arabient drone metal with such obvious influences as: Swans, Neurosis, Merzbow, Masonna, My Bloody Valentine, Coil

There are plenty of metal kiRAB on this forum one of you must have this & be willing to share :D

KHANATE are SPLITTING UP

thats just ruined my thoughts of this year. LoaRAB of banRAB have split up... but Khanate are one of my all time favourites.

:(

you cant forget dragonforce, those guys are reshaping metal and might be doing well to help many non-goth metalheaRAB find their musical identity.

Dragonforces guitar solos bore me.

&I'll upload My Dying Bride "A Line of Deathless Kings" if anyone wants it. I need to get around to listening to it.
