Hey guys,

This site is great. I just purchased a C50, 2005 model with 500 miles. The thing runs like a champ. I'm tempted to drill the exhaust, but I'm trying to wait out the urge. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself.

About time for that first service...that was likely never performed.
...ooohhhhh, purdy blue ya got there! I like it.

:welcomes:

I have the SE version in that color.
Looks great if you debadge it.

I added a Techclusion FI unit and a K&N Air Cleaner at first service.
Once the bike had some milage I was glad I stayed with stock pipes.

Hi
I've had mine for two years now and have not had any problems. The fuel injection works perfectly.Being under 1000cc helps a lot with insurance rates too.

Hi Dward...
:welcomes: i have the same bike...but it is now Candy Apple Crimson... lol
Great great bike.. runs like a champ as you say.
I was going to drill the pipes but listened / rode a friend's drilled pipes ( also a C50) and didnt like the sound. It comes out a bit tinny and sounds cheap at idle especially...embarassing even.
A lot of folks are apparently drilling out the baffles and 'demickey" and love that sound. After that also check out the 'fibrosleeve" mod by Diamond Jim on this forum. Search by those words....and THAT might end up with the sound you really would love.
When my hubby releases the cash for new pipes, my first act will be debaffle / demickey and fibrosleeve. Then if I like that sound, I will blow the money on some other upgrade...LOL

Thanks for the tips. i think I'll wait it out for a good while before I got messing around with it. I can't seem to stay off it. I live in Georgia, and we've got great riding weather. I'm on it every afternoon after work.

What should I be expecting for this first service. I've calfled a few local shops and they're all asking $300-$375 for that first service. I just want to make sure I'm not being ripped off.

I stupidly bought 3 years service contract for 900$ so I cant help with the 600 mile svc cost alone. Been in for 3 services so far in 2 years (600, 4000, 7500)...so my average would say your quote is possibly a bit high... but hey, I say DO the service with a shop you like the people and want to establish a bit of a relationship with for future. My stealership does pretty crappy work ... I wish I had taken my chances 'cause I now have a great relationship with a small local shop who really takes care of me...( and I buy my bling from him now exclusively )

I paid Cad$ 109 [labour] + Cad$ 56 [parts] + taxes for the first service. The shop owner was confident that valve checks were not needed but recommended for 4000 km service.

Cheers,
