New Macross (Macross Frontier) - Talkback

1. True.

2. Macross 7 started out horrific, cobbled together an OK ending, and had spinoRAB that descended into the downright horrible.

3. If that's the case, the movie WILL borab. Robotech and Macross are pretty much considered synonymous, and there would be no point to making a Robotech movie about anything BUT Macross.

Avatar: TLA has Cow Hippos; but those have only been seen in this season so Macross Frontier would have already been in production when the ep. with Cow Hippos aired. Were hippo-cows in Macross 7 or any of the movies or OVAs?

Did anyone else feel odd during the battle scene this ep. I had this really wrong feeling during the whole fight. Also Ranka this ep is showed to be a bit of a tool, I hope she finRAB her spine again soon

They already came out with a new Robotech movie and its sepearate from Macross. No, it didn't borab. Just check here:

www.robotech.com

simply, no?

I'd love a new Macross.

I'm not sure whats so "direct sequel" about this anime. I'm sure you can watch this without knowing anything about Macross.

And you don't have to watch the pilot if you don't want to. The actually eppy is good enough.

And I don't see what the big hype about the 2D animation in Gundam 00. Of course, I've always been a supporter of 3D animation. I love the battle in the first eppy and even the way the F-25 transforms. I'm in love on first sight with this anime. Hopefully we'll get a good story to match the animation.

It's not really a "direct sequel" as much as the next big story in the macross universe which just happens to be after macross 7, That said, a fireBoraber reunion tour half way through the series would kinda rock (Frontier takes place only 12 years after M7). But other then that, I don't think they'll be any interaction between the two fleets.

I have to ask, why does Macross consistently have to focus on music? I realise it's part of the mythos but personally it's a big reason I just can't get into it. It seems the first series had a nice idea behind it and since then it's just been turned into a tool for marketting. Especially Frontier, where I keep reading every episode has 1 or 2 new songs every episode. I realise this is coming from someone who enjoys a series that does the same with plastic models, but personally it's off putting. Seems they took a plot point about culture shock and then ridiculously twisted it into 'J-Pop is the most powerful force in the universe!!"

Hopefully this series makes no mention of Fire Boraber or anything else from M7. In fact, if we're really lucky, they can write it out entirely.

I dunno, but whoever they are they create Veritechs that reserable those being used by the human fleets and as MarineCorps pointed out Sheryl's assistant Grace took on a more sinister role this episode.

When she acquired the video of the battle and showed it to Sheryl I just assumed she used connections with that Zentraedi guy who recorded it with his eye-device in order to appease Sheryl, but the expression she made this episode was kind of evil.

Now the fact that there would be some type of human third party controlling this alien species would mean they've been involved with it for quite some time. So far the only suspects within the fleet would be the Zentraedi who was relaying info on the battle to Grace, Grace herself, and then Leon Mishima the Presidents aid who's involved with Cathy and seems to have ulterior motives and more knowledge then some of his counterparts.

So I watched the penultimate episode..

ep 24
Alto go boom? Naah.

Some nice Sheryl/Alto scenes.

We find out Sheryl Nome really is her name apparently and she is the grand-daughter of Mao Nome from Macross Zero.

Some nice space battles although I didn't like the ginormous holographic or whatever it was Ranka floating in space. I was hoping we were done with giant holograms after Sharon Apple from Macross Plus... heh

I loved that Ai Oboete Imasu Ka(Do you remeraber love?) is this time potentially destroying humanity.. nice 180

Maybe one of the most awesome touches as a nod to the original series of which this was the 25th anniversary. The final preview was done like the ending from the original series. With an actual live ending of a person flipping through a photobook of pictures from the anime.

You can only have space whales if you introduce them and suggest proof of alien life before completely dropping the point and then claiming in interviews you just threw it in to make some statment about human's potential.

They can't "write it out", They may not make any mention of it other than as history, but I highly don't (they can't) that they act as if the events of 12 years ago (Macross time) didn't happen

Wow, Mylene would actually be legal if she appeared since she was 17 in the very last OVA in M7 starting off at 14... lol

Would be 28 in Frontier, but with space fold time delays and stuff probably appear younger.
