Loved the bit when Captain Wilder said "We're now Pirates and the SMS Quarter is our first booty" lmfao... ownage

I wonder if the planet that Ranka, Brera and Ai are approaching is the original protoculture homeworld? The weird swirly eye thing and rings match the patterns shown in the DRYL movie on the ruins and in M0 I think.

I wonder how many times the production staff will now have to answer 'No, Sheryl will not fly with a musical instrument for a controller.'?

Things I've noticed in this ep-

1. This show is going overboard with the old references. It's making me wonder two things. How much original music will be in it, and it's also making me think of the live action movie (which will assumedly be based entirely on Macross)

2. Space battles look gorgeous. We've come a long way from ZoiRAB.

3. The newest fanservice- a 40 foot tall endowed Meltran pilot that turns into an 11 year old loli and back. Who this is appealing to, I'd like to know.

I'm having fun with it at least.

Anyway as for ep 8 there's no getting away from the drastic animation drop, but I kinda liked the plot in the episode. I find myself liking Sheryl, she gives off Haruhi vibes with Alto being her Kyon.
 
Yeah the drop was bad, but the plot more then made up for it, come on the whole male student body going on the panty hunt was funny as hell (although I think a few guys went overboard: guy with all that gear on his back) and hey everyone loves a little crazy taxi.
 
Ep 9 brings back the animation quality goodness... yum yum

I wonder what kind of hierarchy exists with that mysterious red veritech's pilot and who is giving him orders...

But the episode mainly served to give backstory to Michael. Wow I am totally rooting for Klan/Michael to get together now lol, but he said it himself to her (albeit pretty meainly) that if he got together when she was micronized that he'd be considered a pedo by most people...

The preview for the next episode is curious. They talk about the origins of protoculture finally being made known so I wonder why they finally came across the 'legend of Macross Zero' at that point? Or maybe it had just fallen out of vogue and they're making a movie out of it.
 
Judging by the red veritech's actions, it seem that he's not with the vajra since he blows up that ship which had what I'm guessing were vajra eggs inside it. That said he was taking shots at our heros so he's not a clear good guy. Man just what is his deal!?
 
So I wonder if whatever this faction is controlling the varja that somehow they did experiments on people and Ranka is the result. Some corabination of human/zentraedi and Varja. Grace is calling her the Little Queen, so I guess she has the ability to control the Varja.

and Grace shows up again, too bad she didn't pop out of a vat of liquid then it could have been more cyclon-esque
