ok guys, here we go...

SoS gets a new dual Mac G5 at work!. Joy is his but only temporarily... OS is already 10.3.7....alarm bells start to ring but SoS sees that someone on 1Src has hotsync working ok allegedly..

Sos installs PD 4.1.2, repairs permissions etc etc and presses hotsync button on cradle (with justified trepidation).

I get either

Unknown sync error
[16385]

Unexpected error
[-536854449]

or, on occasions, sync will start and ask me for a password - assume it means the one set on the palm security - I put this in and hotsync immediately crashes nonethless.

or, most often, nothing happens until I kill PD at the terminal and reset trusty TT. Then we goto one of the above...

this truly sucks. I have reinstalled PD several times
(btw uninstall in the Installer basically does nothing, the Palm folder and all contents remain in the Applications directory - what a load of unutterable garbage).

help before I damage my new machine (which would be a shame, it rocks...)

Obi-wan you are our only hope......

Quick question...Are you installing PD from the installer CD or the latest version from the internet?

I had this problem once but fixed it with a clean install of PD from the installer CD.

Hi egarc,

since I have a new desktop but an old palm, I am
downloading PD from the P1 site...just recieved the usual 'uninstall....reset...blah blah' from P1. I suspect it may be a G5-related problem rather than 10.3.7 specifically....

Hey SoS,
Just for kicks, try the installer from the original CD. It may not be a G5 issue but a PD issue. I went in circles with Palm before going back to the original CD.

I too have found the PD from the original disc to work better than the latest version on the Palmone site, I run 10.3.7 also. On occassion the whole sync works better when I launch docs to go first? Dont know why but it does. Nigel

its a USB issue...cant use the usb port on the keyboard, onlly on the machine itself - presumably not enough power or something. Even the card reader doesnt seem to work on the keyboard port!
Plugged it in to the box and all is hunky dory!! Hats off to P1 who made the suggestion...

much happier SoS:D :D :D
