Pure guess, but I reckon Indy will lose an eye in the new film.

The general consensus seem to be "because they were a bit shit". The shows were edited together into pairs and made into feature length 'movies' for the VHS and laterly the new DVD releases, so maybe because they simply didn't work with that format.

But most probably because they were a bit shit.
