Ok, for the record....
Yeah, most people have criticized Incubus for writing a "political" album. And yes, it's hard to stomach Boyd's "welcome to 1984" rants in "Talk Shows on Mute", a statement that is largely cliche these days.
My biggest problem with that album (mind you, I've been an Incubus fan since the late 90's) is that it's largely a free-form jam mess. Whereas their metal-jam band mentality was unique on S.C.I.E.N.C.E, it's more or less annoying on this album. Don't get me wrong; there are some good tracks on it. "Megalomaniac" is very catchy, as is the fantastic title track, "Sick Sad Little World" and the piano-laden "Here In My Room." But largely, the album goes nowhere fast (haha, nice pun for me).
I loved Morning View; I thought that was an amazing album. And despite the last one, I can't wait for what they deliver next. Their songs that were contributed to the Stealth soundtrack show the band back to their previous form.
