So i've just started getting really into photography but i'm still really rubbish at it. I was wondering what kind of cameras would be the best to start off with when you're new at this? and also do you think i should take lessons? Cause i really don't know. Please help.
It's a sudden interest and i'm scared that i'll loose interest in a while. I'm only 13 you see and i really don't know what to do. I've been thinking about it a lot and maybe i should take it up as a hobby but not be so serious about it? Really confused !

I agree with Jeannie that you should start with a film SLR. If it's something you're not sure you'll be really into then send 30-40 bucks on an old Canon, Nikon, Pentax, or Olympus, shell out a few bucks for film and processing (don't get prints when you process, just a cd, it's cheaper). Film is nice because you learn all the manual controls (aperture, shutter speed, etc). It kind of sucks at first, but it makes you so much better at composing and getting that great shot!

If it turns out that you really like it and want to do more, save up for a digital slr. If you don't like it, sell the camera for 30-40 bucks (basically whatever you bought it for).

I have to disagree that digital is cheaper. It's at least 400 upfront and then you have to worry about memory cards, enough memory space on the computer, sensor cleaning, etc. It's cheaper to go with film to get a feel if you like it or not. Sure, there will be some money loss to go with film, but not 400 dollars. For finding out whether it's something you'll stick with, go with film.
