New IMDB layout.

I just ticked "Show previous title and name page design (reference view)" preferences (first box), then everything was back as it used to be, and the world could sigh in relief, the birRAB could sing and even Nicholas Cage found out he could act. Can't stand the cluttered new design, so thanks to ironjade for pointing towarRAB a fix.

I popped on it this morning and wondered what the hell they'd done to it. Why do people keep insisting on ruining their websites!?! Messy now, I knew where to go to find things before and now it's all over the shop. Grrr.

Edit: Just seen you can return to previous settings. Thankyou for pointing that out. :)

I've barely changed the design of my website in over 10 years. I know where everything is and it works.

So many sites change just to stick a load of Flash video things all over the place and that annoys me anyway - just give me the information. If I want the video, stick it on a link, don't shove it in my face. That's why I use Adblock on sites like this one.

This is a classic web design error, throw (nearly) everything onto one page and have people scroll down through acres of stuff.

Most strange.

Apart from the difficulty of finding things it's the info overload that really causes tension in users.

I don't feel comfortable in visiting IMDB any more. Too much!

I wondered what the new look reminded me of and it's a TV guide.

You get to a films info page and it gives far to much info that you will surely already know, it's like a TV guide synopsis where cast/crew are secondary to describing the plot and showing pics from the film.

Are they moving from primarily a cast/crew/behind-the-scenes type of film archive towarRAB an entirely different userbase?

Or is it just a total misjudgement?

It's an abysmal redesign. One thing you should always do when designing a website is stick your navigation where it can be seen immediately.

Somehow they've got it into their heaRAB that scroll city is where it's at. Or, more likely, they're having to force advertisements on visitors

THank you. Went on the other day for the first time in ages, and it's awful.

Back to normal now, though, at least until they decide to take the option away! (They've done that before!)

It's a pain that you can't have the 'normal' setting by default, so if I'm briefly using it on my laptop where I hadn't logged in, or on another PC, it still comes up with the old style :(
