New Hollywood Company Acquiring Manga Remake Rights

There are a lot of fantasy/sci-fi manga that could be ruined by hollywood.

I second that they should try looking at the romance mangas. You wouldn't need much of a budget for those and wouldn't have a hard time trying to tell a convincing story.... as you're only dealing with relationsips betwen people.
 
You know what I'd love to see attempted?

A live-action adaption of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

*keeps picturing Johnny Depp as the teacher for some reason*
 
Holywood has tried Street Fighter two times now as a live action movie and both were pieces of crap. Please remove it from that list

But honestly a company SPECIFICALLY acquiring video game/manga licenses scares me because I anticipate Uwe Boll getting involved in those projects.

Also just because Hollywood "COULD" make a convincing CGI/effects-laden adaption of a manga work, doesn't mean it will.

Look at Dragonball. The CG in that looks god friggin awful. I've seen Korean or Japanese movies with better effects in them and they have significantly less budgets (one would think) then a hollywood movie aiming for a mainstream release.
